Day 1.
Redwilley and I joined a reportedly 15 minute line-up at 7:00am. As it turned out, the border person for our line played 50 questions with everybody in our line....except me. While the other lines may have taken 15 minutes to get through, ours took 45 minutes. The car in front me, in fact, was given a red slip and told to go into US customs. When I got there, he asked where I was going and when I was coming back and sent me through. Redwilley took longer.... We stopped in Ferndale for breakfast at Denny's then at Arlington for gas. Went to Everett and turned east on Hwy 2, through Stephen's Pass to Leavenworth. Stephen's pass has gorgeous scenery and a great driving road. We need to do a club drive through there one day. We had lunch at Leavenworth and it might be a great day trip for our club there. After lunch we drove to Yakima to gas up and cool down a bit. After that, we continued to Richland, arriving about 6:30pm. So with our gas stops and about 2 hours in Leavenworth, and a 45 minute border lineup, the trip took about 12 hours. Dinner was at the Fiero Fest meeting room. Redwilley's car did not fair so well. Some bumpy roads caused her car's interior review mirror to fall off and crack. Then when we got to the hotel and checked in, the car would not start. Her starter motor may be on its way out. After a few hours, the car started fine. So it may have overheated from the drive. |

Day 2...so far.
The hotel includes a buffet breakfast so we ate. Then washed our cars and prepared for the show n shine. After the wash, we drove out to the park. This would be a bit after 8:00am. The cars were great. Lots of really really nice Fieros here. Every car has a story. Every person I met was great to talk with. Pictures will be posted when we get back. After the show n shine, there was the door prize drawings. Everybody got a door prize. Then the 50/50 draw. I did not win. Again Redwilley's car is not fairing so well. During the judging period, our doors were to be left open. Redwilley's battery drained and she was unable to start her car after the show. Being Fiero people there were many more than happy to help jump the battery to get her on her way. Next up is the slow drags. About to happen. There is also a wedding going on. There is a Lamborghini Murcielago conversion here and that car owner was invited to crash the wedding so the wedding party could pose with his car (lol). Dinner and awards presentation on my next report. David, you and your family are on my mind. Hope you're holding up okay. |

Nolan from Calgary won all the big prizes. Best in his class, participant
favorite, best as voted by the general public. Redwilley's 88GT won 2nd in class Beken's 85SE won 1st in class. Redwilley will show off her plaque at the next club meeting. I'll bring my trophy. Then imagine an orderly line of 25 Fieros on a run through town, to a Baskin Robins for ice cream, filling up the parking lot. After ice cream, some left for home. I'm going to close off this report and head for the Fiero Fest meeting room for snacks and drinks and just shoot the breeze with a bunch of new friends. See you all when we get back. |
