Seems to me that someone once mentioned a list that cross references most Fiero parts to the GM vehicle that they originally came from.  Does anyone know where I can get one?

My failing 85 GT is still in its decline, with new flaws showing up almost daily.  My son is going to work on it so that we can come to one of the tech sessions sometime in the future. He is also coming up with a list of the parts we will need ... thus the need for a cross reference list.

Sorry I couldn't make it to the chocolate run. I just don't trust my Fiero on the highway right now (but I do love chocolate).

In case anybody is interested, my 15 year old daughters award winning website "Melinda's Home Page For CancerKids" has been re-published (she died of cancer in 1996).  The address is www.monkey-boy.com/melinda It's well worth the read.

Just as I predicted, my 85GT crapped out yesterday afternoon on a back road in Aldergrove.  It ran great all the way from North Vancouver, then sputtered a little on a left turn (with a big SUV approaching quickly from the other direction), then died completely in a strangers driveway when we tried to turn around. Dead as dead can be - not a sound when cranking - headlights out - radio stopped playing, etc.  I mean really dead.

Then came the embarassment of being carried home on the back of a flat-bed tow truck all the way to NV (again. Last time it was from White Rock)!     Just Lucky we have BCAA Plus.

I'm almost convinced that Fiero's aren't for handicapped old men like me to enjoy!

Oh well ...

Sounds like the ignition module and or pickup coil is going bad. They will work fine when cold and shut down when hot.

You did say the radio quite, that really sounds like like the main Power for the car is loosing contact. The main spot to check is the 2 stud terminals below the C500 connector. (big junction block near the battery, just blow it is 2 studs with wires connected. If that connection becomes loose or bad, the car will "black out" intermittently.      Usually at the most inopportune times.
