Hey there. Anyone know if there is a significant difference between the 84 4cyl rad and the 86 V6 rad, cooling capacity wise?

Thanks in advance,

Before anyone tries to say, that the V6 is a 2 row and the 4cyl is a one row, DON'T say it. I will find a way to reach through this computer monitor and smack you up side the head. :) That being said with the utmost joking.

The 4cly used a roughly 7/8th thick core where as the V6 uses a 1 3/4" core. They were all 1 row, however the V6 used a wider core. You can run a 4cyl rad on a V6 heck you can run it on a V8 if you want, it will work until you start pushing the limits the cooling capacity of the car. Your rad fan will be on more often but you should be fine. Just don't move into any high desert areas.   We have pretty moderate seasons around here. I would not trust it in say Arizona in August though.

I'll give her a try.

I'd better make sure the fan circuit is working though!
