Here's a very simple 4 post car lift made with "Jack all" mechanical jacks.
http://www.hamercarlift.com/HOW-IT-GOES-TOGETHER I bet something like this but even simpler would work for Fiero's. Imagine a cradle with screw stands that is set up to lift just inside the wheels. This way the car lifts up but the wheels are free. Dave's wetting his panties already I bet...:) DG |

Copied from site. It does look pretty cool
HOW IT GOES TOGETHERAll components set out ready to assemble. Side beam into corner post socket. Do exactly the same with the end beams. Place run on ramps to rest on the angle iron present at each end with stop ends at far end. |

I'm sorry, perhaps I'm just not getting something. Is there something unique about this, or is it just a normal four post lift?

What's neat about it is that instead of using expensive hydraulics it uses very cheap mechanical high lift jacks to lift the load. The design looks simple to build and it all comes apart when you're done. Cool! DG

What's wrong with the way they used to do it in the old days - dig a pit and park over top of it!

LOL! Old days, they still do that, they're called oil pits. And ok, I couldn't figure out why people were frothing at the mouth over a four-post lift, as we've had those for years... |

Do you have to have 4 people jacking up the car in unison or 1 guy running around in circles? |

I was wondering the same thing, but upon further investigation I discovered that every Hamer Car Lift comes equipped with a team of four small boys.

I'm assuming that there's more that enough play in the assembly that the posts will actually tilt a little. So it would be a rocking motion as it went up. You'd jack up one post till it jammed and then move on to the next one. I bet you could get to the top by going round 3 or 4 times. DG
