Hello,

Doc upgraded my clutch line and started me on Dot 5 some time ago...but with the heat I put my car through with AutoX and track, the heat certainly wears on the slave and engine in general...hence why I was not able to engage the clutch after a few laps...pumping on the clutch to get something to bite.

Any suggestions for the clutrch slave, heat wrap or cover of some sort...anything preventative:)

I do remove the vents to open some air flow, tried keeping the fans on, turning the heat on (which killed me almost yesterday...like driving with a blow dryer in the face), use top fluids, etc...suggestions would help also.

Brakes...they actually held up not bad, but a upgrade will be a cure:)

Cheers...

Water Wetter is First thing to drop engine temps.

You can wrap the slave to help? You can do the exhaust coating to help.

You can add a front or  rear extractor hood scoop to help?

You can add a small extractor fan in the engine bay to blow the hot air out.  Dr.Fiero put one on John Boss's old 5.7 Chevy V8 and did help with engine bay heat.

As for the clutch, we would need to find out what the problem was, in either case it sounds like the pressure plate is on the way out.  Which you and I fully expected to happen.  As the clutch gets hot, the metal fingers in the pressure plate begin to flex and don't give you anywhere near the clamping force they are suppose to.  This becomes a serious problem with older clutches.

I am sure your new clutch will hold up to the most serious abuse.  The clutch kit you are installing should be good to 450lbs of torque without slip.

I spoke to Frank from Racers Edge yesterday about Water Wetter, he said it helps, but won't drop temps by 40 degrees, etc...but anything would help.

Clutch I think more slave heating up, etc...time to pack the bikes...see you ltr

Just to be clear, is the problem that the clutch is not engaging or disengaging?
