I'm sure I'm not the only one noticing the incredible jump in value our Fieros are taking on craigslist. Are our cars REALLY worth up  to $20,000 ? I love fieros but even I dont think these cars are worth THAT much, or are they?????

Yep we were joking about it at the last meeting, buying a Fiero right now could be a better investment than a GIC.  LOL.  Over the last 10 years the average Fiero has gone up 100% in price.  Some as much as 400% when you look at the price of an 88GT 10 years ago vs today, when people are offering 10,000 plus for an 88GT.

that first one is exactly the same as mine as far as the condition, but mine had 3k more km's on it. Funny how i paid $6000 less than what he's asking lol...  And i thought it was funny how he said "Porsche/Ferrari Killer", maybe like the slowest, base model ones? Even then..    Maybe ill turn a profit on mine when/if i sell it lol :P

I have one word for every one of those prices.

Ridiculous.

I'd be surprised if most of them got even half of what they are asking.

Hmmmm.   One owner 1985 Fiero 2m6 SE 4-spd.   First one in Canada.  White.  Mint condition other than normal wear and tear.  All service records.

asking more than he paid for it when it was brand new.

I was JUST about to make a post about this!!

I thought I hit my head on something when I checked out craigslist, what is with all these "special folks" trying to get twice to three times what their cars worth!? Are they actually expecting to sel!?!? Should I just sell my broke down 86 SE for 4 grand and buy back at $1900 again at the end of the summer!? What are we trading boomerang stocks here!?!

All these "nice" cars are worth 5-6k tops, 7k for a big spender, the rest are in the $2500-$4500 range WHAT IS WRONG with these people!?!? I can't even remember the last Fiero I've seen sell for more than 8000 at the most, double digits?

Bring me some of that Vancouver tap water over here to the island, I want on the crazy train!!

Edit: and I do believe the porsche killer was a Northstar swap so it's not outa the question ;)

Well....all I can say is that THANK GOD with all that I have invested into my car that it will increase in value.  I have put in almost $10K and will this summer after the suspension and many other new toys installed get my car appraised with ICBC.

If mother nature starts to warm up, hope to have it back on the road soon.

It's nice to see the value of our cars increase but good deals can still be had. There is a silver 85 GT with air care for $1,2oo on the corner of 216th and Glover in Langley. The car looked good but it was dark.

Oh I wouldn't make that assumption so quickly... this is not a drastic increase in value, this is a drastic increase in the "asking price" for the cars on craigslist, like Graeme said, it would be a miracle if any of these cars sell for half what they are asking.

Fieros will slowly appreciate as they always have, but I will NEVER expect mine to become highly valuable, if it does, great, but it's not likely.

Ya know what is going to suck.  Say these Ritzy collectors start saying the Fiero's are "collectible and worth real money"   To these guys, with $100,000 collector cars, 10,000 is just play money, so they start buying up Fiero's.  Now all of a sudden the market price goes up.  Then the average street price is going to go up.  Sooner or later the average Joe, is going to get priced right out of the market.   The only Joe's to have Fiero's will be the ones that have had there Fiero's for 10-15+ years, bought when the price was low and refuse to sell.   I paid $2950 for my 85GT back in 93.  If I would have kept it in the same condition it was back then. (it was in really good shape)  It could easily sell for $3500-$4000 today.   I paid $1500 for my Yellow 88GT.  I know I could instantly sell it for quadruple what I paid for it, but I won't!  :)

Maybe I am just being to sentimental about it.   I miss the days when owning a Fiero was more about who has had the most fun in the car rather than who has spent the most on mods to the car.

Dah, I guess times are a changing.

Lets just hope that in 10 years we are not all a bunch of snobs thumbing our noses up at what ever turns out to be the next un-popular cheap car to mod.

P.S. West Coast Fiero's Turns 10 in Oct of 2008.  Can you guys believe it.  10 years.

....and to think that if I wasn't going to keep my car until I retired and restore it, I was toying with the idea of donating it to a highschool to be used as an auto shop project.

wow, that sucks :(  Im donating my 99 cavalier (previous DD) as the tranny is shot, windshield is cracked, has 200,000km's and is the base model. Just to get a new tranny would cost more than the car is worth lol :P

I'm sorry. I'd be mad if it were my car.

PS: A basic cut polish / wax would probably get rid of it. Would run you a whole $10 from Wallmart.
I wanna go fast.
