TIRES

 I was talking to Bassman when last in BC about tyto 888 tires for my 88.When running in B-ham last Sat I was thalking to several folks at the track and their input was

1.I could not use the 888 as a daily driver even with my super limited milage I plan for this car because they have a do not ever expose them to temps below 40 degrees F.they store theirs in the house during winter.I felt sure Bassman was using them on the street but did not ask about the cold or is that all just BS.It will be in a garage but not heated.

2.it looked like the 888 specks show my front wheels which are 6 in wide are 1/2 inch too narrow.for the 225/45zr15 that you are running on the front.Is you front wheel in fact 6 in wide?

3. some of them were touting the Dunlop Direzza sport Z1 Star Spec.as being almost as good as the 888 on the dry but better in the wet and would last 10 times longer and not have the cold restrictions.agine I sure like the way your car handles and you are living with it so what do you think.I need to run the tires I drive to the track because I cant change them with my bad hands or bring two cars to BC.

Charles, at the club meeting on Saturday, a club member attended with an '88 Formula equipped with GT lace wheels from an earlier year (much like you had thought of doing). The wheels were 7" wide front and back. Yes, if you knew what to look for, the front wheels stuck out a little bit. But heck, it wasn't too bad at all.

Just mentioning this in case your 6" wide front wheels are a problem with the tires you eventually wish to buy.

Great tires...look for the A6's...but unless you trailer and change onsite, cannot drive to and from...same as the KUHMO V700 or V710

It's not the perfect solution, but yes, it works.
