I've collected a bunch of info on them, but...

There's a "local" guy that supposedly specialized in them isn't there??

Anyone have contact info on him?

Hey John,

I saved this from some time ago...:

This is just a lead to note and keep on file in case you need it sometime.

I recently had a problem with part of the ignition mechanism in my steering column.  The part I needed was not available, and if found would have required taking the whole column apart in order to replace it.  (In case you haven't tried it, it's a tedious and complicated job.)  I found a guy in Langley who is an expert on this stuff.  He does steering columns for local body shops and hot rod builders.  He's especially familiar with GM columns.  He can assemble them with his eyes closed.  He did one once in the dark because the car couldn't be driven and there was no light available.  He took my disassembled column and replaced the broken part and reassembled it for $60.  He has loads of spare parts.  He buys every column he sees at swap meets (and his back yard looks like it too).  It's his hobby as well as his work.  He loves this stuff.  His name is Russell Townsend.  His phone number is 604-888-9077.

Bump, I just talked to Russ and am trading him the busted column from the 85 that I am parting out. He seems like a really nice guy. Is going to help me with a few issues I am having on my 88 column.

He says he is in Fort Langley so we are going to meet up at the Choco shop for a coffee and give him his parts. I am still going nuts tearing the garage apart for the harness for Blair. Driving me nuts I can't find it.
