Hello all, Well the layout today's race was the fastest to date, and I can say that I need to consider a Rev Limiter, if anyone has any information that would be appriciated. |

Well you can always have Craker turn yours back on, but that is not really a good idea for a race situation, as it shuts the engine down briefly. Would be like you shutting off the key for a second, in a tight corner that sudden On/Off would be bad. Your best option and it might even speed you up a bit is to go with an MSD Digital 6 or even a simple 6al box. You can set your rev limit, then if you go over that limit it will simply cut out a few pulses of your ignition to keep you in a safe limit. You can safely pin your foot to the floor, the engine will rev up to that limit and stay there. Ever heard a car at a race track, come up to the starting line and make a kinda waap waaap waaap waaap waap noise as the engine is screaming. It usually due to him setting at Wide Open Throttle against his launch rev limiter. It can be set in stages, so you have 2 rev limiters one for your optimal take off rpm and one for your optimal engine redline/shift rpm. In either case, you should budget between $250 and $450 depending on the box and feature set you want. A couple of neat features is timing control right on the box. If you want to add a couple degree's of ignition timing at a slow track so you have more bottom end punch just press the button. If you want a bit more rpm for a high speed track, just push a few more buttons. Start Retard, can be kinda nice if you have a nuts motor. Just set it up to retard the timing a few degrees on engine start, this takes load off of the starter. Boost retard / nitrous retard. Tons of options. As for Brands, I have heard good and bad about just about every brand. However the 2 main options are Mallory and MSD. |

I like the Mallory with the easy, viewable ajustments, do they have a plug in harness like the MSD?...doing my GA brake upgrade today with the help of David, will price these out today also. Remember when I looked at this a few years back John...Na, I won't need that...lol, funny how things change...looking at my car last night and all the cone marks on the nose and read rims, a month ago I would be freaking, need to put some painters tape on since I am getting more aggresive in the races...lol Thanks... |

Brian as for saving the nose, have you thought about just using a LeBra for the front of the car. As for the plug in harness, you can still use the MSD one with the Mallory box. I'll show you how it works when you get here. |
