I decided to move my car into the shop to defrost it.  fired up and overheated in 3min, put it the shop and let it defrost overnight, went over to work on it friday and found the passenger side pipe burst, then i found a 6in crank down the side of the block. now i have a major job on my hands.

Well at least you got a spare 2.8 block there if you want to do it quickly.  Or just step up your 3800 project.  I know Marcel has several complete 3800's for sale to club members at a really good price.

Ouch!

Sorry to hear that, Phil. I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago with an '84 SE. I was kicking myself afterwards because I actually had antifreeze for the car - in my basement.

Oh my... Still, there's no better incentive for an engine swap than necessity!
Never shift into reverse without a back-up plan.
