If a person were to upgrade to a 3800 or 4.9 Caddy Engine in thier Fiero would they need to change the fuel pump as well? My guess is yes they would to deal with a larger displacement engine.

as the average human male life span is around 72 and I am now 36 can I officially consider my fiero as my midlife crisis car?

The 85-87 V6 pumps will do it if in good shape, however if you have an 88 V6 pump you are golden. The 88 V6 pump is the same one used in the 90's Corvettes. As well several hundred other GM cars, with engines up to 454 ci Big Blocks.
