Well, as I'm sure most of you are aware now after the WWDC'09 announcements....

The new iTunes 8.2 came out a couple days ago (hope you've all updated already).

Next Wednesday the 17th OS 3.0 will be released to the public.

Friday the 19th, the new iPhone 3GS gets released.

Kinda pissed that they didn't feel like putting a video record function into the OS 3.0 for the 3G, but the 3GS got it.
Guess the fact that a jailbroken one can do it, but NOT at full rez AND 30fps (which the 3GS can do) is why....  but....  how about just a 15-20fps one or something???

Does anyone have that accelerometer program on their iPod? I have the iTouch, so concievably it would still work on my unit, but I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with it.

Dynolicious?

Yeah, I bought it. Used it a few times. Pretty cool. Ran it on the work
truck, and the numbers on it lined up with published specs for the truck
(which is 100% stock).

Dynolicious!

It was like $10.  Pricey as most apps go, but still... not bad.

Oh - for those of you that got up early to update - it's SUPPOSED to become available at 7am PST (according to an online chat session with an Apple employee).

Bought that Dyno program. Looks pretty awesome, but to judge MPH will it need a cellphone connection?

Nope it'll need a GPS.  However I don't know if your touch thingy has a GPS.

Tried messaging yet?
Tried turning sideways while sending an email?
Improved stopwatch.
Youtube now lets you log in.
Improved phone function.

And that's just a bit of surface fluff of course.

Not bad for free.  ;)

Just updated now, going to be checking it out today. Only issue I had was that iTunes said that it can't be activated at this time.. not sure what's with that. Said to try again later, either way though, the phone works right now.

ooohhh.. just got tethering to work. This is going to be very very handy I think. Had to upgrade, but right now they have a deal that you can change up your data plan to 6GB for very little extra. Short term though, only available for the next week or so.

Now to get the new handset.. they were saying it will be quite a bit of cash just to buy the phone itself.

The 6gb plan has been around for at least a year.  Lisa and I both signed up on it, as tethering has been a native task on Windows Mobile phones for a long time.   Its especially handy during a power outage.  Laptop charges the phone, phone supplies internet access to laptop and you are online and at the very least able to check the BC Hydro website to find out what is going on.   If you get really creative, plug a small inverter into your car, so it will supply 110v, then run an extension cord into the house to power the laptop, just remember to go and fire your car up every 4hrs or so.

This is the software I use on my Android, I am not sure how well it works with the older I-Phones but here is what they say about it.    http://www.junefabrics.com/iphone/index.php

also refrenced here,  http://www.iphonehacks.com/2008/09/iphone-pdanet.html     The one for the android does not require hacking, just install and go.

Oh just curious what they quoted you for price.   When they first came out with it, it was a promo for $30 for 6gb on a 3 year contract.  They took the pro away and I guess are now bringing it back.   Is it still $30 ?

Yeah, that's back but I went with a slightly different plan with a basic of 350 mins, visual voicemail, call display etc, and 6 gb of data. Turned out to be a better deal in the end.

Hey, does anyone know if there is a way to "trick" an iTouch into GPS functionality? I know I can when I have internet around, but then again, doing a drag beside a gauntlet of unsecured wireless routers is quite a rare treat in New Westminster. lol
