Two in one day, yep!
Allan Liu brought his '86 GT over today, and amongst other things I was doing to it, I thought I'd take a look at his A/C system which was at the time dead. Pulled a quick 29" vac on it which it held for an hour. Cool - it's still sealed. Jump started the compressor - no boom, shriek, etc. Cool - it's probably working. Quick trip to Walmart (more on that later) for a couple cans of Duracool and some oil (not sure how much was in it, so figured better safe than sorry). Hooked up my hose set, pumped it slowly in... he's chillin'! Got me motivated enough feeling those outlets to relook at my OWN '86 GT. Another quick purge down low, pumped it up with another 2 cans.... chillin'! On the Walmart note.... there shelf price for a 6oz can is $15.94 -- KMS tools currently has a sale on the exact same can for $7.95! Took 4 cans up to the customer service desk and asked them to price match.... girl looks it all over (obviously a metricized person who went "are they both 6 OZ? {saying it as six awwwz!}"). Anyhow, after I pointed out that was 6 ounces, she just rang them through at $7.95. Bonus! Was going to do my SS10's system as well and make it a hat trick, but I think I have a slow leak somewhere, so why waste the refrigerant. So - there you go. Two chilling tales for the day. |
