A reminder for our club meeting this month...

Saturday August 14th 2010  @ 6pm

Ricky's All Day Grill (Click this link and Google Maps will show the correct location.)

604-455-6002

8720 204 Street Langley BC V1M2Y5

The weather's going to be perfect. Come early, kick some tires, slap Tristan around, it's going to be a great time for all.

Topics to be discussed during the "formal" part of the meeting include a wrap up of the camping trip last month, feedback from those who attended the autocross at Pitt Meadows last Sunday, and organizing the upcoming club run to Whistler on August 21st.

Also expected to be in attendance at our meeting is at least one respresentative from the Sports Car Club of BC. (Yet to be confirmed.) Here's something that Dave had posted earlier pertaining to our August meeting.

RACING, RACING, RACING I have been in contact with the SCCBC, Sports Car Club of British Columbia and at our August meeting they will be sending several reps to our meeting. The SCCBC holds several road race days throughout the year, as well as many other Racing events.  Due’s for their club are $40 per year.

If you are looking for a safe legal venue to push your car to the limit, take that high speed corner wide open, drop 2 gears and get around that car ahead of you, drift that corner and not worry about the cops taking your license.  This might be something of interest for you.

Brian Browne, our local Fiero Track expert, has also agreed to be at this meeting with his Fiero that he uses for racing.  He will be on hand to point people in the right direction and hopefully with some prodding, give an enthusiastic talk about using your Fiero as a race car.

So there you go. If you're a long time member and you're not planning to be away on holidays this weekend, come on out and see the gang. If you've never come to a club meeting before, this is a perfect opportunity to check us out.

It promises to be a great evening for our club meeting. See you all there!

I'm bringing Frankie, but I guess she'll have to stay in the car during dinner.

I'd love to do the Patio thing, but they can't reserve the entire thing for us, so we would end up spread out and having other guests in the middle of our "lectures" / "Speeches"

I didn't even know they had a patio there.

Frankie will be fine curled up on the passenger seat for a couple of hours, as long as the car is in the shade. I just didn't want to leave her at home unattended for five hours or so.

For anyone wondering why I've been carting the hound around recently, I'm in the midst of dog-sitting Frankie (a purebred Siberian Husky). She's actually my girlfriend's dog, and Anne's away for three weeks in Edmonton visiting her sister.

I dog-proofed my backyard as best I could (I've never had a dog in my own yard ever), but if she got really bored, she might still find a way to get out. As with most huskies, she's completely oblivious to traffic, so I sure don't want her wandering around the city on her own!

Frankie is very gentle with people, so come on up to us in the parking lot at the meeting and say hi to her. Just don't bring your cat along.

Hell, my backyard has a fence around it all. My dog's solution? Grab the 1X6's with his mouth, and literally rip them off, one by one. No more fence!

Your dog would need side-cutters at my place, as I have a chain-link fence.

You clearly have not seen my dogs teeth. That bastard has carbide-claymores in place of fangs.

Thanks Brian. Frankie certainly seemed to like you as well last Sunday at the autocross.

LOL, maybe we should get all the food "to go" and then just eat outside on the cars, or beside the cars if your paint is too nice to sit on.

I am only kidding as it would make the meeting chat a nightmare and frankly I think there would be a lot of people moaning about no chairs.

Do any A&W locations even have the carhop service anymore?

I remember back in the 70's cruising around in my big-block Chevys going to various A&W's in Vancouver/Burnaby (Hastings Street, Kingsway) looking for someone to drag race. Yes, I was young and stupid once myself.

A bygone era...

Lougheed & North Road does, by Lougheed Mall:).  There is an A&W in front, could we cancel our room, park in the same lot and do take out from A&W and eat at our cars?...or maybe the AC will be nice:)

You were young once?

You're going to give Dave and Lisa a severe case of indigestion. We'd need more time to alert the troops than just five hours!
