I don't exactly know what a 3 point hitch is, from the sounds of it you are thinking a Tow Bar? I know a T-Bar can be used to pull a Fiero from the front, however they are not meant for towing because they are not a fixed mount on the front of the car. For tows less than a mile or 2, I have simply put a strap around the front cross member and rope style towed a Fiero. I think its illegal here, but we use to do it for trips over 20 miles when I was a kid back in Oregon. My dad drove the tow vehicle and I drove the car being towed. If you are thinking of a tow hitch for the back, I have a 4 bolt 2 point and a 3 bolt 3 point hitch. I personally love having a hitch on the back of my Fiero's. Comes in really handy. |

I do recall! looking at this post, thats why i think it can be done.a clamp type system that bolts up to the two holes in the
frame under the nose, rite where Patrick shows it in his post, with this type of hitch its is a 3 point.an the nose will NOThave to come off.but on my 87GT it has two plastic blocks in the place where the holes are, thats showen in Patrick post?are there diffrent frame front ends on Fieros,i thought they were all the same! any in put would be great, thanks guys |

Those plastic blocks on your front end will unbolt from the metal plate they're attached to. I suspect Fiero front end frames are all the same (at least from '84-'87), although I am no expert on this.

Wow....that's an awfully long way to your anchor point. Because you're so much lower than this point there will be a lot of bending force. I would add more bolts to the upper mounting if it was me.
Other than that, looks good. The aluminum will be light. The Dawg |

THANKS,it wasn't easy, how it works is,the big plate on the back with the
notch in the top, it fits up in to the frame on the back side in these two slots, then on the bottom you see the two small bolts that just hold the frame in place basiclly ,not the main fasting point,it is part of it.then theres a one more 10'x12x1/4 plate thats bolts to the frame on the front side of the Fiero, iam not finnish it yet,but will up date soon.have to move my outher car this week. |

Thanks all, just finnished it tonight! ah,a few more pics---it has about a 5' reach on the toung an will just run a saftey cable to the car from my truck, the
test will be on my parts car thank god! this week an hope all goes well? how it mount to the frame of the Fiero,is with the two large plates that stick up,the aft one fits up in to two slots way up in the top section of the frame,it inserts in,then you take the two bolts an tighten them up,all they do is hold the frame in place an give a little extra holding power for everything.then you take the FWD plate an slip it all the way up on the Fwd side,it allmost touches the inside of the nose,it has a notch in the top of it that fits up on top side of the frame rail, like an upside down J,then insert 2-1/2" bolts horizontally an tighten it all up,hope it all works? |
