I have 2 3.4 DOHC's that will be going into Fiero based kit cars.  One is a '95 all torn apart and one is a '96 all together but I will pull apart before installing to make sure everyting is good.

The install is pretty easy overall.  You can use the front exhaust manifolds for both sides, just need to grind out some of the ports on the transplanted mani that goes on the back.

The '95 and earlier had different shaped exhaust ports than the '96+.  '95 and prior have circular ports with a flat edge on the bottom and '96+ have oblong ports.  I am currently building a set of shorty exhaust headers for my '96 that have been copied from these following pics.

The following pic shows the exhaust ports I am building.  I made a form to shape the port halves out of and the weld them together.  I have two done so far just to prove out to myself I can do it and then I went back to body work on my projects.  I plan to finish the engine install into the project this winter.

You wil have to get the wiring harness from your donor car and your Fiero wiring harness and they get mated up. I had mine done by a fellow in the States (Erik on Pennock's) including th echip burn and Ihave it in a box ready to be installed.  Wiringis not a thingI enjoy doing so I get anyone else to do it before I will....

There are also changes in the trans mounts and the front engine mount can be easily fabbed up.  I went to a web site from a fellow that gave a blow by blow of the 3.4 DOHC swap over on Pennock's and got his plans and made the mounts up.  I'll try to upload the plans if not, send me an email and I can reply with it for you.  I'll see if I stillhave his web site url bookmarked as well.......

Not the one I was thinking about but here is a good site that shows what you need to do:

You will also need to build a dog bone mount as well as a power steering pump replacement. Again, there are plans for the steering replacement pulley setup but you will have to read up on the dog bone as there are several variations of you can use.

Reply or drop me a line and I will help out where I can.  Sounds like Doc Fiero has done one as well so he should be a good source of info as well.

Cheers

I didn't actually do the swap - I just did his harness build, and offered advise on the rest.

Here's some pics of it still out of the car (never saw it after that).  It's a 91.

Oh yeah - the 4spd's suck (gearing wise) in 4th.  With stock OD tires you'll turn about 2600 at 100km/h.  Only 400 less than a 3spd auto....

I'm actually in the process of gathering the parts needed to do the
swap and just bought a NOS 3.4 off eBay to put in. From what I've
read online, I think it will be an enjoyable engine.
