Hi guys. Looking for advice on fixing up my brakes. They are very very soft. Too soft to drive safely and I'd like to be able to drive the car to the next meeting (which will be my first meeting). I don't have a whole lot of brake experience and I'm wondering if there is any thing specific I should watch out for? Second, how difficult on a scale of 1-10 with ten being very difficult is it to bleed brakes? I'm going to start with the fronts first. I know from a bit of research that the rears are a little tricky being tied to hydraulically to the e-brake.
Thanks |

If you're not comfortable doing some things, I say jump right in and learn.
This is *not* the place to instill this wisdom!! Your life, and that of those around you depend on it. For starters, you ONLY want to bleed in the correct sequence, which in this case is left rear, right rear, right front, left front. Unless you have the right tools, you can't do it by yourself and hope to get it right. At best, you make the car undrivable (and you realize it then and there). Worst case, you make it seem good, but overlook something - then it fails going down the highway. Think of the baskets of kittens, and busloads of nuns! (old joke) |

advice on fixing up my brakes.!
ill give it a shot, fixing brakes on a Non ABS car is not to to hard,a little mechanical knowledge you can do it.The Fiero can be a little tricky with the E/Brake on the rear two wheels.thats Y most guys R/R them with Grand am ones no E/Brake to deal with.as for your Fiero if the brake-pedal is spongy! it may be more than just air in the lines,Q? when you push on the pedal,an hold presser on it? will it slowly creep to the floor? if so then your master cylinder needs a rebuild.all so look @ all your Flex lines real close with a light! take your time check for buldgs/deform or wet leeking spots as for bleeding your brakes get your self a hand power bleeder its easy to use an will flush every thing out.Tube it an that may clear up a few things. heres a brake kit you could use. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVAUlqKHASM good luck |
