Second meeting of the year is coming up this weekend.

Same time and place as usual right now.

Ricky's all day grill in Langley, off 88th and 204th north of Hwy 1.

Getting closer to spring, so time to start getting our Fieros ready for
driving season again, at least those of you who don't drive them year
round

Discussions will include planning this year events, getting some more
runs in, car shows, etc.

Reminder, dues are due by the end of March, still 30$ for the year.

If anyone has space, we will try to organize a tech section or spring
tune up session.

I may or may not be there with my Fiero. .

See you saturday!

No issues, well the o2 sensor stopped working again, but that doesn't
keep me from driving it. I had it fixed just long enough to go through
aircare for the final time.

I will probably not be able to attend.

Proposal asking for opinions:
Suggestion: We have put a hold since November
on Dinner draws, I am proposing a new plan, which I would
like your opinion and suggestions on.
To have 4 draws per year (every 3 months) for members
who's dues are current. Members must attend at least one
meeting in that 3 month period to be eligible. Those
members names would be put into a hat and one would be
drawn. The winner would receive a gift certificate for
either 20 or 25 dollars to NAPA, Lordco, Rickys, A&W,
etc. We may get a bit better value from some suppliers if
they believe it will benefit them. Such as a $25.00 gift
card for $20.00 ( or something like that.
Based on the old system it cost the club $180.00 per
year. With this plan the balance could be used for 2
picnics/BBQ during the better weather, and cost basically
the same. This I am suggesting as currently ( since the
hold on the dinner draw) members pay $30.00 for what?
This I propose for your opinion. Regards

Good point, Glenn. Just what are the $30 membership fees to be used for? It's not as if the club needs to pay rent for a hall each month.

In regards to gift certificates as prizes, they're only worth receiving if the winner actually wishes to make use of that particular establishment. Would the winners get to choose from a number of options at each draw, or would the prize already be predetermined? Because quite honestly, I think a gift certificate for a place like Lordco is a total waste of money, as even with the club "discount", their prices are a complete rip off.

I actually liked the idea of the dinner draw each month. It encouraged members to at least attend the meetings. With what you're currently suggesting, members would only need to attend four meetings spread out over the entire year to be eligible for all four annual draws. I don't see that benefiting attendance at club meetings any (which I believe is what we're ultimately after).

The issue is that we don't seem to have that many members
attending and paying dues. We can have 12 draws per year,
but I don't know who will pay for it. As far as Lordco, I
agree I prefer Alder Auto. We are trying to save some cash
yet get more events happening. We don't pay rent however
we do pay or should be paying for the web site, decals,
business cards, Arlington Food. Members should be coming
out for the meeting, not the free dinner draw, but if that
is what people want then that is where we will go. As I
asked, looking for ideas and opinions. Thank you for
yours'

Other than time for me especially Saturday's which I work, it's now the toll for the bridge...we seem to always have to drive across and not once since I have been a member have we tried a location on the Coquitlam/Burnaby side.

What are the club costs...put that together and let's be realistic as we are more a social support club than a active driving club, miss those days but lives change:)

Mr. Bassman, since you work on Saturdays and only show up a few times a year
the bridge toll is least your problem

That might be the case, but I might make more of an effort if the club
did for us on locations especially when we are out of pocket that extra
amount...might be a deterant or others or potential neweners as well.

Brian, I don't know if you saw This thread last month, but I brought up the same and similar points about the bridge tolls etc in my second and third posts.

We then discussed it at the January meeting. It appears the club will now be flexible with the monthly meeting locations. It was stated that the club would plan to have several meetings each year held west of the bridge(s). So if you're aware of a good location to meet up in Burnaby/New West/Coquitlam, let the club know!
