I need help getting the old heater core out.. ive followed Jazzmans tutorial Here but mine looks different.. im not sure if i have the factory subwoofer or not, as its never worked. I disconnected the blue dinger thingy, and 2 bolts holding the case on. There is apparently 1 more up on the top (ive taken the speaker out), but its in a friggen impossible place to get to! And i dont even know if its the correct one. Im so frusterated with this, cuz its all in such a cramp space, i cant see what the hell im doing.. Can someone run me through how to do this..
its the screw here, that i cant get to and im not sure if there are more yet. Edited by kawana |

1st, do you have A/C?...and you would know if you have the factory sub, do you have the volume control on the central lights above the rear view mirror?. If you have both, then I may be able to help as I have two heater cores done on my car. 1) The factory sub enclosure would be on the far right above that blue chirpy thingy...lol, I removed mine since I have a 10" enclosure 2) After that then it's easy, unscrew the cover on the inside, then access from the front compartment (you will have to remove the winsheild bottle). From here you can unscrew the hoses, make sure you have allot of towels to grab the antifreeze inside and under the front compartment hoses. This should help, remember to clean out any antifreeze...nice and dry, otherwise you'll have that smell for some time Edited by Bassman |

What do mean you're not sure? It's either in your passenger side footwell or it isn't. If you haven't seen it by now while working on your heater core, I'd say you don't have one. Brian brings up a very good point (which is also covered in JazzMan's thread), and it's that there are two different ways of getting the heater core out depending whether you have A/C or not. I've done it both ways on two different Fieros, and the non-A/C Fieros are a little simpler to access because you do it from the front where the spare tire is. If your Fiero has A/C, then the following picture of mine (which I posted in JazzMan's thread) clearly shows where the four screw holes are located. (Basically in the middle of the two sides and the bottom, whereas the top one is above the middle of the heater core itself.) This is looking straight across at the heater core from under the dash. That top screw isn't all that difficult to deal with from the top once the passenger side dash speaker is removed. Here, read This thread of mine from nine years ago at PFF. It'll cheer you up. Heh heh... I've spent an awful lot of time at PFF since it first hit the scene almost a decade ago. Some of that time has actually been used to discuss Fiero related topics.

No offence Kawana, but what’s the very FIRST sentence in JazzMan’s thread which you’ve referenced? Here, I’ll make it easy for you:
It can’t be stated any more clearly than that!

I had to do one tonight. I have never seen one fail this dramatically so quickly. (posted the details on the email list)
Excuse the shaky video, I used my cell phone as I did not want to waste the time to run in and get the video camera. Video is here |

I didn't get anything. Come to think of it, I haven't received any club "chat" emails for over two weeks now.

I did something back on September 19th, but yes, it's possible I didn't do the last step of "confirming" when I got an email response to my initial request. Anyway, I've completed the process this time, so I now expect to be swamped with club emails.
