I think I just experienced my first Fiero headlight motor burnout.  I had the lights going up and down no problem in the 308 replica over the weekend and now the passenger side won't move.

Any ideas or input on whether I should rebuild the motor or just look for one already rebuilt?  I saw in another post Dave was saying $25 a motor from somewhere, LV Fiero?  Don't know what that stands for or who the shop is.  Las Vegas Fiero shop?

I can head over to Pennock's and spend the next 2-3 hours reading through a gazillion threads about headlight rebuilds but I would prefer to not waste my time with that search engine.

Anyway, any input is appreciated.

Thanks
Don

What year headlight motors? From what I understand, the 84-86 motors are harder to rebuild than 87-88. I just replaced the bushings in one of the motors in my '88, it took me about an hour.

Not to mention, quite often it's a relay or wiring issue!

There are 3 relays up front, and each one is different (again, assuming non 87-88 car), though I've seen the ones attaches to the headlights swapped with no issue.

Thanks for the replies;

The headlights are 86 I believe.  How do I tell if it is the motor or relays?

Also, where would I purchase parts for the rebuild if I go that route or is there anywhere to buy already rebuilt motors?

Thanks again folks
Don

I did two rebuilds on my 86 GT last year. The first one took me over 6 hours to finish. Only took over an hour the second time around. I bought rebuild kits from Rodney Dickman.

If you have an eletrical tester, look after the relay (but before the motors) when someone else hits the switch. If you see 12V, it's the motor. If you don't see voltage, the relay isn't closing.
Never shift into reverse without a back-up plan.

Thanks Romeo;

I also watched a video on Pennock's as well that showed how to test the wiring out.  Buddy Craig or something like that did up a vid.

Thanks for the info folks.  I will be getting my parts from Rodney in  about a week and in the meantime, I will check out the wiring

Cheers
