Has anyone found out any details with GM dropping Pontiac which is proposed how that will affect us owners for future parts, etc.?...These dumbsh*ts did not see the light 5 years ago and start to plan like every other business?...they deserve to go down, or give the money to them and hite a whole new executive team to change the companies over and pay them a $1.00 buyout which is all they deserve!. Sorry all...venting...:) |

To be honest, GM really does not offer an special Pontiac parts, and really does not offer Fiero specific parts anymore. Anything that was "unique" to the Fiero is NLA at the dealerships. Hence why people like Rodney Dickman and The Fiero Store are doing so well. If they dropped Pontiac, it would kinda suck as Pontiac has always been the Performance side of GM. However what did they drop a year or 2 ago, Buick or Oldsmobile. No one really ever noticed. Chrysler dropped Plymouth I think a few years ago as well. They still built the Neon it just became the Dodge Neon. If GM as whole went belly up, at least it would let us get collector plates faster. As far as GM's current line up, there is not a single car that GM released in Canada that I am eager to own.

Wouldn't matter Dave, the eligibility is age based anyway. The problem with collector plate status is that you can't drive them AT ALL to work, and most owners use their Fieros to do just that. I have 6 cars on collector plates and the real challenge is to be able to find time to actually use them! I end up taking a run up to Squamish or up Cypress (in the summer) for coffee, just to exercise them. I still drive the Fiero regularly and I don't thinhk I'd put it on a collector plate even if it were eligible. Some day, I suppose it would be nice to be able to keep a Fiero as a casual weekend driver. |

Bill wouldn't your Turbo make your car not eligble for Collector plates? I was under the impression you had to have the original or at the least a stock appearing engine in the car to get collector plates.

Yeah - that'd be where he said "even IF it were eligible".
