I wanna know if you guys have any info on problem areas to look for before buying, other than the obvious tires, cosmetics and accessories.Any info would be great. THanks

The only odd thing to check is listen for a cracked exhaust manifold. It will sound like a tick or old sewing machine sound. If there is a cracked exhaust. The repair could end up being over $1000. 1 in 2 cars that need the exhaust manifold removed end up with a busted stud in the head. When that happens the head has to come off. Which means an entire head job on a motor. Aside from that, you are pretty much fine. Look for rust around the battery box, under the trunk carpet. Give all the wheels a good shake to check for loose ball joints or bearings. Take it for a drive and note how it shifts. Hard to shift is OK that is usually just hyd issue. However if it is easy to shift, but grinds into gear its more a problem with the trans and possible shot synchros. This is more of an issue with the 5spd cars than the 4spd cars. |
