Topic: Winter Driving in Fiero Posted: 06 November 2009 at 6:26pm |
So my Fiero so far has been only a project and ive only had the privledge to drive it 5km 2 yrs back so i dont have to much experience as far as handling goes in the fiero. I've been driving around my other toy an 88 5.0L mustang and i was curious to know which one you would think would handle better in winter? Im leaning towards fiero due to weight in the back
Thanks, Mark |

Seeing as no one else has chose to answer, probably because this topic gets hashed out every single winter for as long as I can remember. The Fiero with winter tires on all 4 corners is simple amazing in the snow / ice. I have driven a Fiero in the winter for the last 12+ years. I have raced 4wd's in the snow and beat them. With the weight on the rear drive tires, it starts, stops, turns really well. 2 things though A. You must have a good alignment, a poor alignment will cause the car to skid through the ice rather than drive. B. Dedicated snow tires on front and back. The reason for the front is there is not a huge weight up there, so you need something to bite in for cornering. Then obviously the rear to get going and to stop. The only time I have ever had a major issue was driving through fresh powder snow that was about 2ft high. It compresses down and then gets the car high centered. |
