Hello All, this thread will document a LS4 swap into my '85 GT. The engine and transmission was a complete dropout from a 2006 Impala SS with 41K

A list of mods planned goes something like this:

DOD Delete, LS7 lifters and ZO6 camshaft with Patriot gold valve springs
Custom built Intercooler and radiator with trans cooler by IRCFabrication
Magnashift tranmission controller and Microsquirt fuel control
Stock LS4 exhaust with T66 turbocharger

This project has been on hold (In Storage) for a few years as I've moved countries, across the content from New York to Alberta Canada. Its been almost 2 years in Canada and normal is starting to return to our daily life. The car is in transit as I type and I hope to be continuing my LS4 Fiero build soon.

That's a nice looking car.   Can't wait to follow your
build.

HI Nice to see new members,an there Fieros.
Good choice in power, took a quick look at the LS4 an
with the Alum block, an FWD Applications, remote ELE
cooling pump,it should work out nice. Are you going to
move everything over from the doner car,or go with
what is in the Fiero. Good luck on your build.

Now this is a build I have to follow, as I may be mirroring your build minus the turbo in 6 months to a year.   I'll warn ya on one thing, if you are planning on going standard trans, you will have a nightmare trying to find a clutch that is small enough to fit in the bell housing and still handle the power of a Turbo V8.  A former member of this forum built a ZZ383 with a large turbo hooked to a 6spd in the end was forced to swap out to a 4T65HD trans that was custom built with a custom controller.    IIRC Low boost was 600hp and turned up was estimated at close to 1000hp.  I don't know all the exact details but a year after it was built the car was parked and is said to be on the chopping block to be parted out.

Thanks guys, really looking forward to working on it.

ARTIC-1 Yes, Im using the Monte SS LS4 and the 4T65E transmission. Im going with a radiator mounted remote electric water pump to push the cold water reverse flow through the engine.

Capt Fiero, Tim at Magnashift has a kit that is perfect for this swap and that's what I'm planning to use. It offers stand alone control with full manual shift control and a launch control for the 4T65E. For the EFI Im going Microsquirt with the 24X LS1 mod and Sloppy mechanics turbo tune for start. My goal is 500 600WHP and to make it as street able as possible.

I want the car to look as stock as possible on the outside but open the hood and "Bling"... LOL
