I have the 86 gt. my door lock cylinder had fallen in and the retainer fell out i guess. I bought a new one from Gm for about 3$. Im having troubles installing it. How to i get about to putting in the door lock cylinder and making it hold with the retainer/clip?

Maybe Dr. Fiero could help me on this one.THanks

IIRC THe door lock is held in by a large Flat Metal Horseshoe type clip, push the lock into place with your fingers.  Its a bitch getting in there but stick your arm in, get it into place, now with a friend or your other arm, stick the key in the door lock from the other side, this won't hold it perfect, but it will keep it from falling completely out, while you reset your arm with the clip in hand.  Then reach up with the clip in 2 fingers and use your other 2 fingers to push the lock in place. Then move your thumb to the butt of the lock and push the clamp over.    If you get totally screwed, simply remove the outer door skin, as the lock is attached to the door skin and not the door, this will require you to unhook the lock rod, but thats no so hard to do.   Door skin removal is by removing all the torx head screws around the outside of the door (and the trim, and the screws under it - you probably WILL break the trim retainer clips).
