Does K&N air filter make any noticeable difference in performance/accelation? And is it true that K&N filters let in more dirt particles compared to the paper ones?
Thanks! Robin |

The only way it would make a difference is if the paper element of the old filter was filthy and clogged.

I have used a K&N just to tried it, didn't see a difference, and I race and put in items like this in my car...I am happy with the AC Delco part # PF52F...and it's half the price of the K&N.

lol As to what Brian posted, there's literally NO reason to run a K&N/Royal Purple/AMS Racing oil filter. They claim increased flow, which is all well and good - but that's because they only filter to 15 microns, as opposed to the 5 microns AC Delco/Motorcraft/Mopar oil filters do, which is far more important in my books. |

Actually I do run a K&N filter actually, 2 one on the Air Intake and one on on the Valve Cover Breather. The valve cover breather lets in far more crud that you can imagine. The K&N does flow more air, but the big benefit I find is that I can stop and clean it before any big run or event. I don't have to race out and buy a new filter, I just quick take it inside, use the shower massager on the hottest water I can get from my tap to rinse it out really well. (Lisa really loves it when I do that) Then I take it outside, let it dry, give it a quick spray and put it back in. IMPO the K&N will outflow any paper filter that is even a month old of daily use. If you believe the reports the K&N flows something like twice what a new Paper will flow, however I don't know about that. I do know that I am happy with what I have got and the price has gotten so cheap on the K&N that it is barley more expensive than just one paper filter. |

What exactly do you spray on it? I have the Fram AirHog filter on my GT which is the same idea as the K&N.

I spray the K&N Air Filter Oil. Its suppose to stop small dust particles.

I wonder what that stuff really is. ATF or a variation of it?

It's a variation on zero-weight oil, simply employed because a K&N has large orifices, which would normally let in more contaminents along with more air, but those contaminents are attracted to the oil instead. |

I use a K&N air filter. No gain in power, but seat of pants feels the midrange
power comes on smoother. Likely due to better airflow of intake air. Also, I am told they work better when dirty (but not too dirty). When they get too dirty, they're easy to clean. K&N claim they last a million miles. |

They clean better when dirty, that is true. Particulates will actually block off parts of the holes, makes those holes trap smaller contaminents. However, that comes at the cost of power.
