I have this issue that is hard to track down.
My engine idles good around 900rpm. sometimes when driving and taking your foot off the gas it stalls. instead of the idle settling back to 900 it drops off until it stalls. I Have changed the map and iac sensor, replaced the intake plenum gaskets, checked for vaccum leaks and have new plug wires. I am thinking intermittant cks sensor....I have two of them....... any suggestions? ![]() |

I'm not sure how GMs work, but I know with Fords if the CKP signal goes, it just switches over to cam signal if the engine is already running... If GM is the same, that means it wouldn't explain the stalling issue.

Assuming it is at all like the 93 Caddy ECM it has a cruise down RPM as you decelerate, it thinks that you have an auto attatched and the trans will keep the engine spinning till you stop the car and at that point the ECM increases the idle speed, however in a stick car if you are crusing along and simply push in the pedal, there is nothing to keep the engine from stalling. This needs to be adjusted in the ECM rather than in simply tweaking parts. I don't know what kinda stand alone system you have, but look for something about low speed idle adjustment or something to that effect. Maybe ask Zac (the guy, as I don't think your car will give you much of an asnwer, and if it did, man that computer is much smarter than mine)

It runs off a 1227730 Gm ECM reprogrammed by Ryan Hess not the caddy unit.
I have talked to zac and it didn't have the problem when he had the car. Seems to be a new issue. |

From reading many posts it appears if a crank sensor is faulty
it causes low-speed coast-down stalls. If one is bad it sets the timing
to a default retard setting and sets codes P0335/6 or P0385/6. Will try new sensors.

Silly GM. Should've taken a page from Ford's book, wouldn't have that problem.
