I had a membership before but I cant remember my password so i made a new one. I am need quite desperately of a transmission for my 86 GT. 4spd preferably. Would a 5spd match up to my 4spd body?

a 4 or a 5 or a 5 spd (two diff' 5 speeds!) will all fit.
But - you need the shifter AND both cable that match the tranny.

What was your old membership name?

my old name is unitedinlove. So the better way to go is just to get a 4spd because it will all match up?

All Fiero standards will "match up"  bell housing is the same bolt pattern for ALL Fiero trans axles.

There are 3 different 4spds

2 different 5spds

All the 4spds use the same clutch, slave and cables.

The 5spds use specific parts, but are a direct swap when you do the trans.

4 spds are around $100 for used private sale or $400-$550 at wrecking yards.    I have a 4.10 4spd in storage that I'd be willing to sell, however you have to note that it is a 4.10 and your stock trans for your car would have been a 3.65.   The 4.10 would give it more "get up and go" but would rev higher on the freeway.  If your car is 90%in town driving it would be perfect but if you have to commute from say Surrey to Abbotsford everyday, it wouldn't be my first choice.

I would be interested in that trans. I have dreamed about driving a fiero for long distances with the luxury of a 5spd but it probably wont happen. I do mostly only town driving and the odd trip. How do i get ahold of you? Also, I found this backyard mechanic who would do it cheap but would proably take a long time, to which i dont have. And a tranny shop would cost $4-500. Do you have any reccomendations?

Fiero's and repairs are not cheap, regardless of where you go.  I don't think many places will do a re and re for under 500.   However if you want to see how it goes together, we will be doing the last of the install on Romeos clutch install this Friday/Saturday.  Romeos car just happens to be an 86GT V6 4spd.   I'll be posting up the details tonight or tomorrow.  For status, check the Tech section regarding Romeo's Clutch Swap Day by Day.

As for contact info, 604-807-2623 is my number, call whenever, if I am awake and handy I'll answer it, if not, just leave a message and I'll get back to you when I can.    If needed I can toss in some related parts you might need.
