(that's not really a poll!)

IF you think your temperature gauge is accurate (or really close) - my question is, when the engine is cold (let's say it's been sitting for at least 8hrs), and it's about 10-15C outside, WHERE does your temp needle point when you first turn the key on.

Right at the '40'?  Just below?  Other?

Mine sits below 40, and never, ever vacates that spot. I fear my gauge may have an issue or two.

Never shift into reverse without a back-up plan.

35 views, and only one (who's gauge doesn't even work!) response??

Just turn your key to "on".  Where does your needle sit!
