"Front" is a relative term...  I need a working front brake cable that goes to the parking brake lever/handle (not one of the two "back" ones that goes to the calipers).

I'm planning to go to the wreckers to get this cable, but if someone reading this wants to get rid of an extra one that's kicking around gathering dust, I'll give you 10 bucks for it.

The closer to Vancouver the better, but I'm mobile.

Well, I could ditch the Fiero and buy a new car as well.

Oh, I fully realize these parking brake cables are still available new, but I'm quite content to put a good used one on for a quarter of the price.

Delete some of your PM's so I can reply to the PM I sent you on Friday.  I've got one here in the scrap pile you can have, its still attatched to the entire ebrake handle and as far as I remember it moved fine.

Oh... sorry Dave. I didn't realize my Inbox was full!

[EDIT] Okay, I made some room.

Ah, now I see the parking brake handle in one of the pictures from your http://www.westcoastfieros.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?FID=26&TID=1789&PN=1&get=last - Free Stuff thread. I'm still happy to give you 10 bucks for the cable, but the cable's gotta slide smoothly. If you could double-check it and let me know, that would be very much appreciated. Thanks Dave.

Well the cable slid smooth until I realized the end had been cut off, I grabbed a 2nd front cable and it has a kink in it and does not want to move.  Well if you want to try and fix the kinked one, they are free.  However it sounds like buying new might save you some grief.  I'll bet the cost of fuel to drive out here and back is 1/2 the cost of a new one anyway.

Thanks anyway, Dave.

I don't mind going to the wreckers as I have friends out that way to visit as well. It's a good excuse to go for a long drive.

...but if anyone else in town here has a cable to sell, my offer still stands!

you could always pull your old cable, if it isn't
broken and lube it up with wd and work the
cable, could end up saving you even more
money.

Well, besides the fact that WD-40 isn't a lubricant, my current brake cable is beyond simply being lubricated. It's far too corroded.

I know that wd is not a lubricant, you would use it to help break up the rust that forms in the e brake cable assy so you can free it up, but if yours is too far gone then never mind.

As much as I love saving money and never throwing anything away, this cable is toast.

Know what else is toast? Burned bread. ZING.

I have no idea. Why don't you tell us?

And maybe while you're at it, you can also tell us "who in their right mind" cares more about who buys their car than how much they get for it.

Perhaps you could work on your reading comprehension skills a little more and spend a little less time running off at the mouth.

I made no mention of trying to "unseize a e-brk cable".

I want to replace the corroded cable that's on one of my Fieros. I'm not so insecure that I feel embarrassed about putting a good used one on there.

Your attempts to belittle me are pathetic.

See other thread.

No further warnings.

Consider this all done.

If someone can help Pat out, send him a PM this thread is dead and closed.

People in both the nasty threads, have had a lot of posts deleted and anyone and I mean ANYONE putting down anyone's choice in build of a car will be booted from this site, I will ban you IP strip any mod status, or whatever.

Some of us are cheap, some of spend $100,000+ with a lot of people in between.  I keep a locker full of used parts so when I need something I grab it.  I also don't mind selling cheap or giving away parts I don't need.  Honestly that is what 1/2 of this club is about, people helping people.
