Hello all

I have an 86 2M4 240KM all original from one elderly owner before me.
What I unfortunately failed to consider was that the elderly owner lived in
Ontario for many years and my lil Fiero has an advanced case of rust and I
don't think it's all that safe to drive anymore, not to mention beyond my
skills to repair
It is an all original survivor though and before I send it off to the scrapper
I thought I'd offer it up to the general membership as a donor car for
parts or to try to restore, it has an iron duke that refuses to die, a 5spd
Isuzu that shifts very nicely, and all original interior bits etc.
I don't have room to part it out so you'd have to take the whole thing (it is
driveable) but like I say I'd rather see it go to help other Fieros keep going
than just be crushed.
I'm thinking $200 is a fair price, about what I'd get from one of those cash
for cars guys so PM me or shoot me an email at whansen70@gmail.com if
you're interested.
Although I've lost my lil friend I guess Im still a cousin as my wife decided
(with no help from me) that a good family car would be a 2000 Grand Prix
GTP - it's a BC car with no accidents and NO rust!

** Forgot to mention I have the Haynes and Factory service books I'll
throw in as well

If someone else wants to go in on it, I'm down for the tranny, shifter, cables.  Factory manual would complete my collection.

I would love the interior.. But I don't have a place for the car but willing
to go in on the cost

Wayne - how fast do you need it 'gone'?

I have a car in the shop right now, so no room/place to strip it.
IF you can wait a while though...  it could be brought in, and stripped in 2 days (not that THAT part would make any difference to you!).

Dang it, I would've been interested in the cables (specifically the select cable). Mine snapped on the '84 that I swapped over to an Isuzu 5-speed.

My wife would like the garage back so 'asap' would be the best
answer I guess. Sometime this week would be ideal.

Ugh - well, that rules my place out as a 'strip club'.  I probably won't have room here for another month at best.

I really want it to go to where it will do the most good without another Fiero
owner having to pay a pile for the parts individually from the wrecker. The
boss has given me a one week stay of execution to find it a good home (I
might be able to stretch that a bit but no guarantees - unfortunately a
month would be too long)

Forgot to mention it failed aircare a few years ago so the PO basically redid
the exhaust, new cat and sensors. I aircared it in Feb and it was 0's across
the board - we were impressed it got a better result than our minivan at the
time

Only other thing I could think of, would be to have a 'team' show up here, and we do a FAST strip and haul-away in the driveway (we did this once about 7 or 8 years ago).  Time lapse video to prove it!

I'd have to pre-arrange the guy to haul the hulk away, it'd have to be a clear day out (just not into working in the rain!) - and probably need to have the starts in alignment with something-or-another.

If nothing - it could make an awesome 'tech day' type thing for anyone wanting to see a car get stripped.  There's a few of us who've done it so many times that there's very little mystery as to how certain portions come apart (unlike that time 7-8 years ago!!!!).

Ok John.....I'm sure I could find a few parts I could use.  If you can get a big enough group so we get it done FAST I'm in.  I'll also pitch in some money relative to what I end up taking.

Got pics of the wheels and tires on it?   Might be interested in tossing in a few bucks into the kitty for this.   John if we do it at your place I am sure we can do the strip start to finish in one afternoon.  Make most of the parts near giveway.  As I know you don't have storage for such a car or the resulting piles of parts that get left behind.

Is this thing still movable/licensed/insured/etc?

If not - we have to factor in $75-100 getting it hauled over here. And considering the few parts that may get pulled.... ummmm....

We "should" be getting into a drying/warming trend anytime soon now.  Long range forecast is saying 15/16C for the weekend (after we get flooded again for the week!).  So - next couple weeks could be a good to go thing.

Hello again
This pic that pretty much shows all, nothing has changed since this was
taken.
It is definitely still drivable-I was using it as a daily driver until the heater
core started leaking and I found the rust on the trail of this issue. At
worst we may have to add coolant but it should fire right up, except for
the rust thing it actually runs really well.
Its not insured but it is insurable, aircared as a matter of fact! - the cat &
exhaust has less than 5000km and it aircared VERY well when I took it
through in Jan.
If anyone wants to drop by to scope it out just PM me, I just want to see it
go where it will do the most good

Hi, don't know how far along this has gotten but I could come out with the tools that i have and help . If the Capt would allow me the tires and rims, mine are crap.  I also need any interior bits(if grey) and I'd take the calipers, discs, stuff for my 2.5 and I'd donate 150$ and up.

Is it possible  possible to take the windscreen off?

If this goes through, I'm willing to kick in a few dollars (but not too much) for the rear side market light fixtures and if the tail light covers aren't cracked I would be interested in the driver side (or both if you really need to get rid of them as a set).

Can I suggest that the people that show up and help remove parts take what they want and whatever is left will be listed for sale.

The reason I'm mentioning it is that we could use the same tail lights depending on the condition.

Not to put Ken on the spot or anything.....:)

Only problem with the 'leftovers' is...  there won't be any!

Assuming this all goes down - I need whoever wants something to be here, pulling parts.  Whatever is left, is getting hauled away the next day kind of thing.

Reading between the lines, I'm already seeing some, ahem... potential issues starting to develop.

To prevent things from possibly escalating if/when the strip-down occurs, who will the actual owner of the car be at that time?

Who's setting the prices and who's taking the money?

Who's deciding who gets what if there's a conflict?

Best to clarify this now instead of during the process.

Yes for the record the strip will be done at my place,

16908 104th Ave, Surrey B.C. V4N4N2  if you get lost 604-807-2623 or 604-584-7717  I can't speak for what parts will be available, but if you have tools and time and want to have some fun, we plan to start at 8am and work till the car is completely stripped to the bone, nothing will be left on the car when we are done taking things apart.  Any parts leftover that are not claimed on Saturday will be placed back into the caucus and sent to scrap on Sunday or Monday morning.  I do have an air compressor but only one impact gun, so if you have  T- Fitting for Air Lines and a spare line you can bring that would be awesome.

Rob is the Owner

Rob and Damian will be people deciding who gets what.

I will help Rob come up with the Prices.

If there is a conflict, I'll stand up and be the jerk that says who gets screwed and who gets the goods.

However the major factor in who gets what is who shows up with cash in hand.  If you do not show up, you don't choice on anything.

I am on the phone with the Doctor now, and he is coming with stack of power tools.

No promises, but if we can figure out a few things, I'll even bring my plasma cutter!  And no - you don't get to play with it.

I'll bring my recip' saw too.

If you've got a battery operated impact, and some 7/8/10/13mm sockets they make life much nicer.  A T15 Torx bit, and a #2 phillips to fit it is nice too.

I speak from experience when I say...  bring all your own tools wherever possible, and account for them.  Too many times, tool "A" looks just like buddies tool "A", and things get all muddled up.

For the record, there will be no problems.  People known to engage in problems please stay home....:)

To that end, everyone is being PM'ed with their list of goodies as I understand them.  Any small bits left on the hulk in the end will be up for grabs by the group who pitched in.  As Dave mentioned, there will be no parts left over.  The crusher will come and take it all away.  Truth be told, there shouldn't be much left other than some body panels and odds and ends.

So, Rob is the owner, he fronted all the cash.  We've come up with everyone's share that will be pre-agreed on before the weekend.

It should be a great time.  Anyone is welcome to come hang out.  It's a great opportunity to learn how your car is put together.  You'll see things no Fiero owner should ever have to see.  Oh the horror!

The only other thing I'd like to add is that 8:00 AM might be a little bit early because the car is being driven via permit.  Not sure if there will be an Autoplan agent open that early.

I suppose it could be delivered the night before if it can be arranged.  If that's ok with Dave.

Thanks
DG

You can buy a permit a month in advance if you want!  Just tell them what day it's for.

As for the 8am thing - my only thoughts are about pissing off the neighbors (lets face it - it's not a quilting bee!), and having a bunch of 1/2 awake people killing themselves.

Date Posted: 09 May 2010 at 11:53am
You can Pre-Purchase permits for any day you want, and yes the idea of coming over early was mentioned and approved.  It doesn't have to come early but it is fine with me, the main reason to bring it a day early is so that the car will be ice cold when we get to the engine bay and brakes.  We don't need hot engine oil or engine parts burning people while they take things apart.

I can have it there either day - I'm thinking maybe Friday in case any issues
arise. I'd like to hang out and watch/help with the dismantling, maybe
provide the photo record of the event?
