I seem to have a batteri drain and not sure what would cause it I just recharged the batterie, and after 3 days it is dead again!!! so... what are some common causes of batterie drains with these cars?

It's possible your interior light or trunk light switch has shorted out and it's draining your battery. Also, your accessory socket. With cars as old as our Fieros, there are lots of places where a slow battery drain short can develop.
Or your battery needs to be replaced if it is no longer holding a charge. You might try desulfating and then recharging your battery first to see if that might be the issue. The headlight motors not turning off properly is also a potential location for a battery drain. Start taking out fuses for different circuits (while the car's sitting) and see if it makes any difference with your battery's ability to hold a charge.

Ok thanks guy's...I'll give those things a try, I'm pretty sure the battery was replaced almost 2 years ago but could be wrong I was thinking of replacing it anyway but we'll see how I make out trying to track down the bug!!

As it turns out the electrical drain is either the radio or the interior lights!! I removed those fuses after I posted this thread and just got to the car a few days ago and it started right up with no issues!! I will be looking at the trunk light first, and radio second!! ------------- Charlie 84 SE |

Careful with that statement: If something is "draining" the battery, removing it's fuse probably wont fix it as an issue, as it implies the device is drawing excessive amperage from somewhere, all the time. Grab your multimeter and check the amperage passing through the circuit and see if it's reasonable for the devices being run. Also, it's worth noting that the fact your car didn't start and after having removed a fuse it does, sounds more like coincidence than anything else. I would keep looking to see what's drawing what. ------------- Never shift into reverse without a back-up plan. |

I'll look into that further What I meant by it starting after was that after a month of sitting, I went out and the battery had lots of juice, where as before the battery would have been dead the next day and the only thing different that I did was remove those fuses to break the circuit. So I guess I'll check the draw coming from those circuits and see what I get Thanks for your help Romeo, I appreciate the input
