Just a quick intro - my name is Doug from Maple Ridge BC - We own a black 1986 Fiero GT that my wife and I bought new in 1986. The car has never been modified and is equipped with leather interior and is fully loaded with all the original factory options (air/tilt/cruise/am/fm/cassette/sun roof etc.). The car has allways been garaged and has never been driven in snow. Except for minimal wear and tear that one might expect with a 25 year old car it is in exceptional original condition. All under hood and trunk decals are still in place - and the original spare and jack have never been out of the car. I dropped off my application and pic's for collector status with my ICBC broker yesterday, if ICBC keeps their time estimates for approval, should have the collector plate within a week. The car just turned 84,000 kilometers (you read correctly 84,000) it has been faithfully serviced and maintained and has never failed an Air Care inspection.

Look forward to being part of the forum....

Welcome to the forum, Doug. So where the heck you been all this time?

Perhaps come to a club get-together with the wife (or on your own) and show off your GT. Sounds like it's in great shape!

Thanks for the invite - if I have the Collector Plate by next Saturday - (no reason why it should not be here) I will make the trip over the bridge to Ricky's...

Hi, i am a potential fiero owner, have been looking fore a while now. I'm looking for a stock '86 gt just like the one above. I also am interested in getting collector plates.

My question is, Is the car eligible as of january 1st of the 25th year or does it go by production date down to the day the vehicle rolled out the factory?

Anyone with the answer to Brad's question please PM him so we don't derail the thread, thanks.

I tried to PM but it seems there is a problem with the PM function right now.

I will bring my car this Saturday so maybe we will see two cars with collector plates.

GRAEME, FIX IT! BLARG!

I'm glad you're bringing the '84, it's always nice to see that thing in totally stock, impeccable condition. And it's always nice to chat with you too! Hopefully those plates get there before the meeting.

It's fixed. Apparently, the problem was temporary.

Hey group - sorry to have missed Saturdays meeting - the plate did not arrive and we had some other issues come up that needed looking after. Will hopefully catch the next meeting or the Fish and Chip run you have scheduled for the end of the month.....

Marcel I sent you a PM - re: the Mr.Oldtruck name.....

Well the Collector Plate is on the car (actually picked it up on Tuesday).........took a run out to Mission and back this evening - nice to have the car back on the road. For those interested in the processing time - from dropping off the application until the plates were back at the agents office was a total of 13 working days.

I know the feeling Doug.  Our Fiero is actually my wife Michelle's daily driver.  So I'm not in it very often.  When I do get the chance, it's usually been a while.

So every time I get in it, I really appreciate the drive.  Too bad I can't fit a 4X8 sheet of plywood back there or I would buy one for myself.
