Since it's now eligible for collector plates, I wanted to hang onto it -- but it looks like Corp of Delta has changed the rules of the game mid play, and I'm going to have to sell my house and move.  Chances are, the new place won't have the luxury of the parking I have now.

Want $5k for it as it stands, WITH all the spares that you'd want/need.
Chassis has 191K km's.

Only has about 20K km's on the totally rebuilt engine (bored, balanced,  roller rockers, etc).  There's $5k in the engine alone.

5 speed (two of them).

New paint (well, 2 yrs this summer I guess). Stock color scheme.

Mr. Mikes leather seats (copies of the original design).

New 1/4 Windows

New tires last summer (few hundred km's on them?).

Full load of options.

Never hit.

(tiny pic in my avatar is it)

What the F man, what the hell is Delta trying to pull.

You can call or text my Oregon number 503-989-6807 or leave a message at 503-678-2508

Does this mean that you won't have a garage for tools anymore?  This could really suck.

Well buddy, as sh*tty as that sounds, with the destabilization of the US reserve currency and the Japanese situation going on, I would say getting out from under a mortgage is a good thing right about now.

Still sucks I'm sure.  You've been there a long time.

Hang in there.

Well - has nothing to do with the garage (this time).

As most (all?!) of you know, Amanda and I reside upstairs, and my mother lives (and has lived) in the ground floor section for nearly 20 years (as have I).  It's always been a 100% family occupied household. They used to call them 'granny suites' or more currently 'inlaw suites'.

Anyhow - seems that the rules of the game have changed as of last summer.  When we went in this year to sign off on the sheet that says it's not a rented out suite (this drops my utility bill from $1720 to $860 {the usual sgl family rate}), they gave her this big long list of things that simply define a secondary suite - regardless of who lives there.

A quick browse over the list told me that to do the 'upgrades' they list would far far exceed the current market value of the whole house!

So....  we went house hunting. Aldergrove seems to be the target area.
It really depends on if we go it on our own or not.  If it's just us, then the available funds drop of course.  Downpayment wise, and monthly costs wise.

I've found a few places I think we can afford on our own. And I'm GOING TO TRY and find a place with a carport (I can enclose) or a garage, and an empty basement I can turn into a shop.  Then I'll punch through to link the shop to the garage.  Could turn out to be better than what I've got now.  Just really depends what I can locate.

But...  all the places I've looked at so far just don't have a lot of parking.  Never know what will show up.  With some strategic procrastination on this end though... hopefully I can delay the inevitable end until the fall at least.

I would fight this, how about contacting media or legal assistance?...with the elections and all, City Hall won't want negetive attention, and for christ sakes, your mom has lived with you as familiy for 20 years, they should be grandfathered...

Wouldn't that be grandmothered?  ;)

And yes - I was thinking about contacting The Now, and/or The Leader.

I would...they cannot expect for them to change the rules and force an issue as they are...can you imagine how many homes in your area are the same?...

I know we live in a duplex with my Grandmother in the lower suite. Since we moved in our property no longer meets the size requirements to be a duplex but we get by without issue so long as we don't tear down the house.

There should be a way around that.

Good luck
