How loud is the Fiero's exhaust supposed to be? I personally think that my GT makes all the right noises when driven. Yes, it is loud but I like it and don't think it is excessive by any means. However, somebody pointed out that it may have an exhaust leak.

So I guess my question is if my car has a leak or all Fieros are supposed to be loud? Thanks guys.

Robin

If you had an exhaust leak you would know...look/listen for a sound that would not sound muffled at all...if it's a crack in the pipes, fairly easy to find...manifold crack around engine a little harder:)

Next time you're at a meeting, remind us and we'll have a listen.  Our Fiero is quite loud I think.

It's worth looking into because a leak before the oxygen sensor can confuse the computer.  It can make your mileage go down because the car will run fuel rich.

Have someone briefly block off all the exhaust tips, while you have your head under the hood.  The rapid build up in pressure will make a leak hiss like crazy usually.

Yeah - it's hard to block all 4 tips.  I've resorted to using duck tape on 3 of them, then blocking the one.
