I was over at Colby's recently doing something (maybe a wheel alignment) and Colby mentioned that one of the four 14" wheels he had bought to mount his "race" tires on didn't match the others. Sure enough, one is an oddball.

Three of the wheels look like the first image and the oddball looks like the second one. Notice the lack of a "shoulder" on the second wheel. The offset is different and I believe the overall width is as well.

I suspect many of you probably have a spare 14" wheel (with the shoulder) kicking around not being used. I'm not asking anyone to break up a set, but there were probably about a kazillion of these wheels made and I'm sure there must be plenty of them orphaned all over the place.

So help a brother out, and contact either myself or Colby so we can get all four wheels on his crimson chariot matching. Thanks.

I honestly don't know if I do.  If I have more than 4 of them, then he can have the 5th.  I need to keep 4 of them for running my snow tires. If there is a 5th at the locker he can have it.  I think there is, because we used to have a spare that was in the back of the lebaron and it was a 14".  Damian will be down there next weekend.   P.S. is his Dad the same Gary that posted in the other thread about holding onto the club engine scanner?

Yes, the one and the same. The Johanson clan are quite a group!

That would be great, thanks Dave. Might make Colby feel a little bit better about his http://www.westcoastfieros.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=2636&PN=1&TPN=2 - very recent engine woes .

I think there is an orphan actually, but not positive.

I will be there next weekend to finish off the old notchie strip down.  You guys are welcome to show up and have a look around.

I wasn't worried too much about it, but if I can get a replacement without too much trouble that would be great.

It took me a while before I realized the wheel was like that, there was always something that looked odd about it but it took me a while before I actually compared two side by side and noticed.

Colby

I accidentally sold that odd-ball wheel to you without realizing it. As it turns out I have 3 more of them. I also have one remaining correct wheel that you can be assured is yours.

I may not be coming to the next meeting, but if not I will try to arrange for someone else (Pat ?) to bring it.

Cheers

Gary

Thanks Gary. I can see it being a pretty easy mistake to make, considering that it took me something like 5 months before I realized. Did you want the old one back?

Colby... Gary, I'm happy to be the "middle man" here.

I can get the wheel from Gary, and then when Colby has the tire swapped over, I can return the "oddball" wheel to Gary.

Colby, you should've told me who you bought the wheels from. We could've solved this mystery ages ago!

Okay Colby, I picked up the matching wheel required from Gary H. I'll bring it to the meeting on Saturday.

That's what the luggage rack is for.

It'll fit just fine in the trunk, thanks Patrick (and Gary H).

So should I bring the old wheel to Autocross 101 tomorrow?

Guys

Athough I would like the incorrect wheel back again, there is no urgency.

If it takes a couple of months to make a connection that is OK.

Gary

Yeah, I forgot all about it. I guess the next chance would be the meeting.

I unfortunately won't be at the October meeting due to other commitments.
