One of our flagship runs is coming up. That being the Arlington run. I
never did jot down the date. Originally the whole month of June was up
for discussion and it couldn't be resolved till the dates were finalized.
Someone help me out here.

I would really like to see a good turnout for this one folks. Who can say
they're going?

Ok here is a quick info on Arlington.  Please read way below for the details.

http://www.jetcityfieros.com/news.php?readmore=34&rstart=0 - http://www.jetcityfieros.com/news.php?readmore=34&rstart =0

All Pontiac Show http://www.pppcc.com/ - http://www.pppcc.com

The Arlington run is as usual, we meet at 6am, on the road at 6:30am  same place as last year, corner of 152nd and Hwy 10 in Cloverdale/Surrey at the Tim Hortons.   Bring your GMRS Radio’s channel 20.

Food at the BBQ is provided by the club for due’s paying members.  If you are attending with someone that does not pay dues, you have a couple options, you can toss a few dollars to Lisa to put in the club funds or purchase food at the Grocery store when the club stops to buy the food.   Due to US Customs we do not recommend buying your food in Canada and bringing it down.

Standard rules apply for the run.

No Booze.

If you wish to drive fast, please hang back a few mins at a stop when the group leaves.  We do a leap frog type of run.  Slower cars leave first, then faster cars leave a couple mins later and catch the smaller groups and remain with the group for as long as possible or until their right foot starts to twitch and then we re-group at the next stop.

Main stops are at the Gas station directly after customs. (176 street crossing, there is a Chevron on the left about a ½ mile after you clear customs, it will be the first light you come to, turn left, and it’s just beside the Burger King)

2nd stop is roughly halfway down, to Arlington, it’s the 2nd Rest Stop on the highway that we pass.  Keep your ears on the radio so you don’t miss it.

The exit we take is I believe exit 206 Arlington.

See you all Saturday.  June 2nd.

If you have further questions please reply here, so we can all hear what’s going on.

David

These are some notes from Last year.

If anyone has an extra folding canopy that will fit in there Fiero we can always use an extra down there.

Folding Chairs we always try to bring at least one extra.

Once we all get to the food Pavilion, we will take a final head count and go buy the food.

Food the club is buying

Burgers

Hot Dogs

Hot Dog Buns

Hamburger Buns

Lettuce

Tomatoes’

Pop in cans

Several bags of Ice

Knives and Forks

Spoons

Potato Chips

Assorted Picnic items

Napkins

I am sure there is other stuff, but we will see how it goes.

Remember if you are only paying dues as a single person and you are bring a guest, please toss Lisa roughly $5 for a child and $10 for an adult.

This is the list that I put together for Lisa and I, hopefully it jogs the brain of a few people that might not be thinking of all the things they should have.

This is just a list of stuff from Canada.

4 chairs.  (2 for us, 1 for Arianna and 1 extra)  I don’t want to haul all the amounts we have.

Both Digital Cameras. Charged and with Blank SD cards in them for lots of Photos and Videos.

Blanket to lay on.

Sun Tan/block Lotion

At least one umbrella for Sun Shade.

The Folding Canopy.

Spare Tools and parts like Ignition Module, Pickup Coil and Ignition Coil.

Radar detector

Passports

GPS units programed with the Airport.

Ice Cooler

The FRS Radios are going to need Batteries.

We will meet at the Tim Horton's just East of the Corner of HWY 10 and 152nd Street in Surrey at that time we will all check our FRS's Radio's and set all radios to channel 20. If you have spare radios please bring them as it would be nice to see a radio in every car. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GOOD BATTERIES. Most people grab coffee and a pop while we look over the cars. VOX IS NOT PERMITTED ON THE DRIVE. If your radio has VOX capability Please do not use it. VOX is the Voice Activated portion of some Radios. It might be great in the forest, but in a car on the highway with cabin noise, and wind and stereos they have a tendency to activate the

Radio and lock out anyone else from talking.

6:30am we will leave and head for the border Crossing at 176th street.. Make sure to have your Passport with your driver's license with you.

7:00am  After we all clear customs we will regroup just across the border at a gas station for those that wish to fill

up with the cheaper American fuel. Then I-5 bound.

8:00am  We will make one stop at a rest area about 1/2 way down, sorry I don't remember the exact address. Just keep your eyes and ears open. After re-grouping at the rest area, next stop Arlington, Look out Jet City here we come.

Once we arrive in Arlington

9:00am Arrive at Arlington

Take exit 206 and head east about 3-4 blocks to a Food Mart there will be a grocery store where we can buy picnic supplies. There will also be a car wash close at hand.- Plan is for those that want to give their car a quick scrub to do that first off. Then head for the grocery store and get whatever they plan to bring.   Buy anything you want specialty grilled IE steaks and sauces. We will then caravan to the ultra light air field for the actual picnic.

The picnic starts at 10am

We will depart Arlington at 5pm, with cleanup starting

at 4pm.

I've been thinking about it and I've decided that I'm going to head down on my own. I'll try to meet up with you guys on the other side (I'll phone David to see where the group is), but if not I'll see you at Arlington.

Well its just after midnight.  Car is packed, camera's charging. Club Banner, big Canopy, ice chests and large rubber maid container for pop/ice. BBQ utensils, everything should be ready to go for the morning.  We are setting our alarms for "gasp" 4am, which should give us plenty of time to get Arianna up dressed and loaded into the car and be on the road for 5:15.  However if for some odd reason, no one see's us by oh say 5:45, my cell is 604-807-2623 and don't stop calling till I wake up, LOL.

See ya at Timmie's.

Darn...those of you who went know I tried.
While waiting in the border line-up, I noticed steam coming out of the front
of my car.   That was a long non-moving line.   The radiator fan had not
come on yet so the engine was not overheating. But a look, showed a
stream of coolant squirting out of the radiator. I had sprung a leak.

I'm thinking if the line wasn't so long, I would probably have made it there
but probably safe than sorry so I turned back before getting across the
border.   Will try and get it repaired/replaced before next weekend.
