I have a Blue GT 87, no collector plates. Is it a factory blue , paint code 21 I think, check the ICBC claims history , it doesn't cost much and you can do it on their website with the VIN # . Does everything work?   116600 is realy low km's.

My mom talked my dad out of it; however, it's good to know
a reasonable price window.
Thanks guys.

You would think 5500 is a good price but none of the fiero's priced over $5000 have been selling.

1987 fiero from parksville (near Victoria) $5995 - for sale almost a year

White 1986 show car (Surrey) $6500 - for sale about nine months

Black 1986 notchback converable (Langley) $8500 - for sale for almost a year

Red 1988 fiero Turbo (West Van) $6950 - for sale for a couple of years.

There have also been clean cars listed in the low $3000's, a silver 1987 in Coquitlam (has a luggage rack), a red 1987 in Surrey Guilford area and a tan fiero in Burnaby. All are either still for sale or took almost a year to sell.

It seems in the Lower Mainland about $4000 is the top of the mark for a near mint Fiero while $2500 is where the others or selling.

Not trying to knock anyone's price or vehicles I am just one of those people that checks CL all the time.

I hate to agree with you, but I actually sent the seller, and in as nice of a message as I could, told them to expect closer to 4500 if they want the car to sell.   I keep an RSS Feed from all the Fiero's posted on craigslist so I get all the adds in my inbox as soon as it gets posted.  I see these nice cars time and time again, some for years.  Some do sell, and sell for high dollars but they have to be special Fiero's.  Like Paramedics I think he paid around $8500 but it was a Northstar 6spd 88GT with racing suspension and power steering.  Something that would rival a 90's Ferrari on a race track.

The average nice Fiero Notchback is 3000-4000 and the average fastback is 4000-5000. When I say average I mean parts may be worn or a bit faded, but nothing is torn or broken, seats don't have rips, and there is no obvious accident damage on the outside.   Now here is the kicker.

Take a back woods junkyard dealer to look at an average Fiero and he is going to say the car is WOW Perfect Supreme show car.  Now take a guy that is Best of Show Concourse judging Arrogant Prick to look at the average Fiero and he will say its a piece of crap because he can't see his own nose hairs reflection in every inch of the paint.

A cars condition is relative to the person looking at it.  For me I kinda lean to the backwoods guy. If a car has body panels that are all the same colour, interior that is not perfect but no tears in the seats or smashed dash corners, I think its a pretty decent car.  Just needs TLC and a coat of paint.

I think for the most part people who are interested in
Fieros are looking for something to tinker with and $5000
seems high for something to start with.

And if they're not looking for something to tinker with,
$5000 can seem high for an '80s car with a bad reliability
record.

IMHO (and don't hate me), if I had $5000 to spend on a car
I would probably buy something else like a Supra or a
Skyline.
