So while screaming home from Dave's on Sat, I got an eng chech loght after probably reving the eng too high. Oil pressure didn't change , no bellowing smoke or anything, but the idle swong from 500 tpo 1500 rpm and osolated there.. With my paperclip  tool, i got the error code 15. Coolent Sensor? I checked to make sure it was plugged in and wiggled the wires , tried it again and same code. Is the only cure to replace it?

Yep, a bad coolant sensor will play hell with the idle and fuel trim. I don't believe they are all too expensive, just ask Damian, he just put a new one in the 3.4. Its the sensor over near the coolant fill neck, mounted horizontally and had that crummy adapter on it.

I remember that one!   What is the sensor that 's just beside the coolent filler neck?  Are they the same pn in the  4 cyl? If it is , then I think I vave a spare one somewhere.

I'll have a look at it tonight.  Why the two locations, or am I just realy confused?

Your not confused, your just not informed,  there are actully 3.  One sensor on the side of the intake for the ECM temp, another sensor on top of the intake to turn the rad fan on and the 3rd which is in the head near the ignition coil that is for the gauge on the dash.

There's actually 4.  5 sort of!

ECM one.
Rad fan one.
Cold start one.
Gauge/light one (hence 4 or 5 depending on how you count!).

I was under the impression the cold start was ECM controlled, and was fired depending on the temp the ECM temp sensor reported.

Also the gauge/light is a single sensor just happens to have 2 wires off of it.  I know, I know, technically it does serve 2 functions, but still one physical device.

If the C/S has its own temp pickup where is it?

Right smack dab beside the rad fan switch.  Looks like a fuel injector connector on it.

thanks guys... so the one that the ECM code is 15 is the ECM one , right.

do they all have the same pn?  I couldn't find one on your helpful lists.

Well dang learn something new everyday.   However that is kinda cool, its another sensor that I can remove.  I removed the cold start valve years ago.  I did not know that, that was the C/S sensor or I would have removed it and the wiring for it a long time ago.

Rob all of them are different part numbers.  All with different plugs too.

Bought my ECM sensor from Lordco. Can't remember how much.
Possibly $50 retail.
