On my way home from work today my trusty duke decided to
die 1 block from home. I believe it is running rich to the point of stalling, I could get it to idle at about 250-1500 rpm for about 5-15 sec before it would die again. Hitting the gas made no appreciable difference. I tried unplugging the MAP sensor which fixed the problem for about 30 sec but now does nothing. It will no longer start for today but will try to find out what the problem is Saturday. It is throwing a code but that might be because I unplugged the MAP sensor. ------------- 88 duke, bog standard

hmmmm... fuel pump? or a relay for it? i think there is a wire you can jump to test it. good luck! Gary |

I believe it is a mixture of the O2 being bad and now the
MAP dying. My brother and I got the car to run for a while by unplugging them but when I tried to move it it would stall. ------------- 88 duke, bog standard

well, good news then. the MAP is a ton easier to get to.  there must be a spare somewhere here in the group that you could buy or use to test with. i am partial to a new O2 sensor though. sometimes they aren't worth the effort to remove from a car if they are seized in there... don't forget to check the connectors.. So the MAP sensor is not the direct problem however it is something to do with the MAP circuit because it will run
for a bit with the MAP unplugged but as soon as you plug it in again it dies. I tested the MAP connector and got 5 volts from connectors A-C which is as it should be. Is it possible the computer has kicked the bucket? ------------- 88 duke, bog standard

There should not be -A/C-current on a Fiero any where. If there is,your bridge rectifier is gone in your alternator. As far as i know,Fieros are 12V-DC. ------------- SNOW MAN 87-GT/AUTO-2.8_ WHITE 88-TTop/ Duke-2.5. RED |

The current is from the A pin to the C pin on the
connector, not A/C current. A buddy of mine said that is might be the EGR or the Coolant temp sensor for the ECM, is that a possibility? ------------- 88 duke, bog standard
