I live in Abbotsford and the time and money has come
together to give my baby a new heart. I got the
engine, computer (and every bit of wiring that was with
it) and fuel pump from a donor car. Got a new flywheel
(machined to .84) and clutch. Hoses, wiring loom, the
whole kit and caboodle. I only have one real roadblock in
the way..PCM programming, more specifically..VATS. My
build is starting monday, as soon as easter
family stuff is done. Hoping to have her all done and on
the road within the week, and yes I have the facility at
my disposal to make this happen. What I am in need of
, however, is anyone local that can do the reprogram I
need or someone that has a spare VATS bypass module
available.

Now, for the sake of needed programming info:
The car: 1987 Fiero (Notchback)
The Trans: 5spd manual
The Engine: 1995 L67 3800sc (from a 1995 Olds 98)

The computer is one of those OBD1.5 units with the
removable Memcal style chip adapter

I know, I know.."why didn't you get a series 2 or 3?"
Well, hard to turn down an excellent running engine when
you get the whole donor car for $500.

Any info that ppl might have would be rockin

I did the exact same engine in my 88 GT a few years ago.
I sent my memcal to Ryan of www.gmtuners.com to have to
programming done, and didn't need any VATS bypass module. Not
sure if that route would be doable in a week though.
Not sure how well it would run with the 5 speed, but I still have my old
Memcal from before I swapped the 4t60e for the F23. It would throw a
lot of codes but might get it driving.

Does your old Memcal have the VATS disabled? If so how much would you want for it? Tricking it into working with a manual isn't too tough, it might not give me all the engine's power, but it would only have to be temporary.

Thanks D_sensitized, that should get the show on the road. And it's well on it's way, three days into my one week build and I'm down to plumbing and wiring left. Should be done on scheduleClap
