What function do you want a hood scoop on a Fiero to perform?

You mean the overroof intake scoop.

GM had one on their Indy pace car. There were some available online by various
fabricators.

The general consensus appears to be that hot air rises. The vents on our
Fiero's decklid is to allow hot air (engine and exhaust heat) to escape out of
the engine bay. A scoop on top would disrupt the air flow, warm any cold air
being scooped in and generally, mess up the aerodynamics of the car.

I had a side scoop on my car, and with the engine being stock, any gains in
performance was really not noticeable. I would recommend a cold air intake or
a K&N filter though. It provides a noticeable change even in a totally stock
engine.

A stock unboosted engine gets enough air through the regular side intake
already even at maximum RPM. If you had a boosted engine or the Super Duty
engine, you should consider some way to get more air in and out (exhaust) of
your motor. It appears the overhead scoop on the official Indy pace car was
there mostly for looks and a place to mount the light bar required for pacing
the Indy 500.

My suggestion is, if you bolt on any "obvious" go fast parts on your car, you
should have the performance to back the looks up. An overhead roof scoop
screams "higly modified" and I would suggest you transplant a V8, boosted
motor, or the SD4 racing motor with a much higher rev limit. It doesn't stop
there, of course. You would also need better suspension and brakes too. Then
you might consider .....
