I insured the fiero on saturday night for a cruise out to
white rock to pick new rims up for my 1978 monte carlo...
well on my way back i was on the highway and i went to
shift to 5th and pushed the clutch in and went to shift
but my shifter was stuck solid.. so i held the clutch in
a rolled down a ramp and luckily rolled into a gas
station. So i got there and popped the hood and checked
my clutch fluid level..it seemed fine.. then i checked
trans fluid and it was fine. I sat there puzzled when the
car was off i could change my gears but on i couldnt.. so
i got my step dad to come out and have a look with me..
we just put it in 2nd and tried to hobble it home to
langley... well i only made it 2 blocks and hit a red
light so i whipped into a parking lot because i couldnt
get it back in gear.. so when i got there i shut it off
and popped the hood again. checked the fluid again of the
clutch fluid.. and it was dry. i looked under the car and
fluid was under it.. then i popped the deck lid and found   
that the rubber boot on the Clutch slave had a pin
hole... so since every store was closed for clutch fluid
i got dot 3 brake fluid and filled er up.. on my way back
to langley i had clutch again... and i parked it. now for
the next thing.. iv never replaced one of these on a
fiero... is it hard and does anyone recommend anything..
was my clutch not working because of that pin hole in the
rubber boot.. i dont know if that boot is pressurized or
anything. HELLLPPP lol thanks guys

Unless the previous owner used something exotic, that's what you wanted.

Now's the time to upgrade to Rodney Dickman's http://rodneydickman.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=61&products_id=66 - double-seal slave cylinder . It's the best $65.95 you'll ever spend on your Fiero.

This will fix your clutch hydraulic problems for years (or until your clutch master cylinder eventually wears out).

Hi, Im one of the new guys here. Bought my first ever
"New to me Fiero" a couple a weeks ago. An 85 SE with 121
thou on the odomiter. Nice 17 inch rims with new
tires,and a 5 yr old Black paint job. Needs a bit a work
too,but nothin too difficult.Would like to find a good
"Canadian" source for much needed parts,rather than go
through the US and the outrages shipping charges.
Here is my problem in a nutshell. The car came out of
Yellowknife arround 6 years ago, and the owner basicly
drove it till the plates expired,then parked it in his
garage. Im in Alberta,and need an OPI done, prior to
getting it regestered. Battery was toast (sat too long)
and the alternator is also toast. Bought both new and she
came out of hibernation after a good shot of Octane boost
and 3 attempts,she purred like a kitten (needs a catt) or
can one get away with just a test pipe? Will take pix as
I progress towards the OPI. Definately needs a battery
tray, and Im sure to find other things it needs. Anything
I should pay close attention too? Power windows are a
little slow but work,as do the power mirrors,and the AC.
Is there a conversion on the market for the AC? At some
point I would like to convert the auto trans to a 5 or
even a 6 speed.

If the part is not Fiero specific, such as engine parts
(gaskets, oil pumps, spark plug cables etc), some
suspension pieces (bushings, shocks, struts), you can get
them from places like Lordco, Napa, and my buddy at
Magnem Engines in Burnaby. Fiero specific parts are hit
n miss at these places. Some just not available and you
fashion your own replacement parts. Or you deal with
Fiero specific shops in the US.

This is an issue with any 30 year old car.

Hi monzaguy,

Just a note that the power windows are normally 'slow' when compared to other cars out there. Rodney Dickman sells a speed "booster" for the windows that is suppose to help (haven't tried it) - the only other option is to retro fit a newer motor into the door. Granted yours could be slow due to hardened grease and what not, but don't expect them to be fast after you clean up the tracks and such. ;)

Fiero specifics parts either used from a wreckers (only place in Canada that would sell them) otherwise it is from the US (never use UPS to ship, always USPS - talk to the vendor about using it before you order, some default to UPS). Most general parts, as said can be bought anyplace that sells auto parts (Dash Automotive in Edmonton is usually a good source - you would have to contact Tony with Calgary Fiero club to find out the options there).
