I was surprised to find an invoice from Treo the other day for
crossing the Port Mann bridge back in November.

All three of my cars are registered with Pay By Phone.   As soon as I
cross one of the toll bridges, a text message is sent to my cell
phone that I have crossed the bridge and the toll is automatically
on my credit card. So when I received an invoice from Treo, I went
to my credit card bills and noted I had already paid for the two
crossings (return trip) on the day of the crossings the invoice was
for. So don't throw away your paid receipts so fast.

I called Treo and it took 40 minutes to get through to somebody.
This is over $6 so probably Treo was hoping I would just pay the
thing and forget about it. But they have set up a new account for
me automatically for something I did not register for.   After
"arguing" with the rep that I was double billed he finally asked for
my license plate number.   He found my license plate registered
with Pay by Phone and an account set up by their automated
system. He also found an unapplied payment to the pay by phone
account.   So I paid the toll but they didn't bother to apply the
payment, even though they had my money.   The rep resolved it.

A breakdown in business process like that is not an honest
mistake.   Something had to have gone wrong for something like
that to happen. Not applying a payment from your customer is a
business no no. Then double billing is poor business practice
altogether.

I don't believe for a minute that my situation is unique. In this day
and age of computing, there are probably hundreds of people this
happened to.   If this happened to you, you have to call Treo to
resolve it. If you don't pay your bill, it affects your driving record
in that ICBC will not insure you.   Of course, you might just pay the
bill over $3 or $6.

Rant over.

HO! Iam so on your side Ken,they are crooks stealing money.A grade 5 student could do some basic math an see that they are making a pile
of Doe$ So lets do a little Math------Every one Min an Average of
350 to 500 cars pass through that toll---X-- $7 a car ---=$3,500
per min ---X---60---=---210,000 per HR--X--24--=$5,040,000
every day. the numbers are off the Flippin scale!! The amount of cars may vary at peak times but its not hard to see we are getting ripped off for a bridge we have paid for.IRs on your plate an its just a bright light on the cam, found a use for that box of old TV remotes i had.Do not like paying
that toll.
