I bought one of http://www.anitec.ca/product/9982/asus_eee_pc_4g_surf_galaxy_black_celeron_m_ultra_portable_notebook*free_8gb_usb_drive*/ - these today.

UMPC stands for Ultra Mobile PC.

They sure are tiny and lightweight.   I'm running Linux but may load Windows XP if I need specific Windows applications.   So far, haven't had need to.   The thing boots up in 22seconds.  It is only a secondary PC and  a websurfer while sitting in Starbucks or something.  It sport solid state RAM, and has no moving parts in it except for the CPU fan.

I needed a lightweight laptop as I will be away on business for a few weeks.    Anybody know if there's a Fiero club in Rochester NY?

Those are cool.  Bring it for show & tell at the next meet.  :)  I've been eyeing them since they came out awhile back.  Small little laptop would be good to load up Windows & WinALDL to datalog with

The new one is pretty sweet w/ the bigger screen.

Sorry...I haven't been able to make a meet.  I've been on business trips.  It's not looking good for the August meeting either, but I'm gonna try.

I'm running Linux on the machine and find it faster and more stable than Windows.  However, you have to be pretty techy to go in and even install a program.  I'm recently added a subset of Compiz to it.  For those who haven't seen Compiz before, click http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxfSwzhSn1c - here .

Anyways, if I can get it away from my wife (she's have way too much fun with it), I'll bring it to the next meeting I can get to.
