| Are there any defensive driving classes in the lower mainland? I need some help when it comes to driving a mid engined car in the rain, i spun out for the 2nd time in a year in the same situation today. Come to a corner, downshift into 2nd going about 20km-30km, give it a little too much gas, back end brakes loose, i panic and slam on the breaks. I ended up doing a 180 and was right next to the sidewalk (didn't hit it luckily), if it had been on purpose it would have been cool lol :D The same exact thing happened shortly after i bought it, luckily both times there were no cars around. |

I would highly recommend the BMW courses also. Pre-requisite for all their courses is the car control course. You do not have to have a BMW to take these courses. You bring your own car. Also, if you work for a company that requires you to drive a company car, they may put you on a course anyways. Not sure what tranny you have, but this is one reason why I prefer to drive a manual tranny instead of an automatic. When I've had similar problems of losing control on a slippery road, instead of slamming on the brakes, I've quickly stepped in the clutch (while turning into the skid) and coasted momentarily, just long enough for the tires to regain a grip. Every situation is different, but it would be good practice for anyone to go someplace where they can experiment without fear of having/causing an accident. |
