So my 4.9 is running like a champ and the fiero drives
good. I have some strange little bugs though. Bug 1: the tach and speedo are off, like i knew they would be, but my question is for the tach do i just bypass the filter or get a different one? and for the speedo how do i hook it up?? i have the two wires from vss going to the computer and then i have the 4000ppm ecm output going through the converter and then to the yellow speedo wire on the 203 connector, and i have the purple/white 203 wire grounded. i though this was it but the speedo registers about 5kph when im going 30 and 10kph when im going 40 45. what did i do wrong? Bug 2: Ok so im running the 4.9 with a centerforce clutch stage 2 i believe, slightly used, and ive got the muncie 4 speed. So my problem is every time i shift into a gear and am accelerating but not hard, a couple seconds or a certain amount of rpms later there is this little stutter or hesitation from the engine. Its very slight like one cylinder didnt fire or something, but its not a misfire because it happeneds the same length into every gear and consistently happeneds when hot, when its cold it doesnt do it nearly as much. any ideas? Bug 3: The check engine light comes on about 45 sec after turning the car on, but when i plug my computer in to read codes the light goes off and there are no codes, so if the light is for a code then i cant read it because the second i plug the obd1 in it turns off. Bug 4: when the car gets relatively warmed up, the idle changes from a steady 1050rpm to to going back and forth from 1100 down to 850 and back every second, also i found that this starts happening when block learn mode is engaged says my computer, and the computer says it is alternating from rich to lean and back corresponding with the idle. Is this just the computer sorting out the fuel ratio and not keeping up with the cam? (282) Thanks!!!! |

Tach: Playing with the tach filter will acheive nothing. Read this:
http://www.westcoastfieros.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=180 2&KW=cfoss My 1227730 speedo connection is like this and works well. It may work for your application as well: ![]() As for the rest of it, I'm not much help. For bug4, look for a vaccuum leak, or clogged iac valve, that sort of thing. It could be the cam. Most try going a bit richer and advance the timing a couple of degrees to smooth it out. Chay |
