I just replaced all three parking brake cables on my Fiero. I have to say, this is the first time I feel confident that the parking brake mechanism is working properly. I've had the car 34 years and the brake handle pulls and releases very smoothly. It was never like that, even when new. When pulled, my car actually stays in place on a hill. Who woulda thunk? These are aftermarket cables. I commented to my mechanic that the price seemed to have come down quite a bit from the last time I replaced cables. My mechanic told me they were hard to find and source them locally, but the price has come down on them. He was unable to get the GM ones. I'm not sure how hard he tried, but the aftermarket ones work very well. |
