Has anyone done a rebuild on one? Are there kits availible for this?
AND Is it possible to put a 87-88 CMC in a 85 car? If it is what are the benifits? |

If you are referring to a 2nd design master in an early car, yes and you would be insane not to. I guess I just assumed everyone knew to use the later design. The only change is a slight tweak to the clutch hyd line where it meets the clutch master. As the 85 comes in at an angle and the later comes straight down. Can be done with your hand. The 2nd design removed a major flaw in the internals that would cause the master to lock up when it broke.

Wow, that seems like an outrageous price for that thing. I'd phone around before buying it from Lordco. Mark, just for comparison purposes, try calling Vancouver Auto Parts (VAP) at 604-251-9060. I buy most of my stuff from them and find their prices to be quite fair.

I did do a little calling around, Napa was a bit cheaper at $112 but had nothing in Western Canada.

Sorry T, I meant to reply to that, but yes the bag has a Type 2 Fiero clutch master, all Type ones are to be replaced with Type 2s as the Type one masters had a nasty problem when they would fail. A large metal pin is used inside, about the size of a framing nail. So fairly strong, it would bind up locking the clutch pedal at the top. Car is fully engaged without Any warming or cause you would come to a stop and go to press the pedal and BANG it was SOLID as a rock and you had no chance of getting it to release. GM quickly moved to the Type2 masters. Don't worry you already have a type2 in your car. Only 84 models and 3/4 of 85 models' got the type1 ones. |

Trust me its not even that much you have to tweak it, just make it a gentle arc, spread out the bend and you will be fine.
