If I had a place to put it, Id buy it. Someone snap it up! --------------------------------------------------------- ***Update: 1987 Fiero For Sale**** - $350Reply to: sale-mqspz-1269938512@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?] Date: 2009-07-14, 1:15PM PDT Selling a 1987 Fiero that I initially started as a project car. Bought the car with a seized engine and was looking into doing a engine swap. No longer have the time to complete the project. The vehicle is great for either a project car or a parts car. No longer have space for the car so i need to sell it as soon as possible. My loss is your gain. Price $350.
............................................................ ................ Like I mentioned before I need to sell the car ASAP dont have space for it anymore. Its 5 speed. It was a project car so im selling it as is. First $350 takes it !! Call me or email me. omar.satari@gmail.com 778-828-2055

You're welcome, Nigel. There's probably all kinds of usable stuff on that Fiero. Like I said, if I had the space I would've snapped the whole thing up myself.

No Nigel, I never phoned. I had no plans myself to contact the fellow as I don't have anymore space to store and/or work on another Fiero. I posted the ad here in case some other club member might be able to benefit from purchasing this car.

Nigel must be busy swapping over his newly acquired panels.

Long story short... I bought the car. The way things were going, it was about to be scrapped. I figure if nothing else, one way or another this Fiero will be a good education for Mathew. I didn't see the car until I met Omar at the impound lot. The car is in ROUGH shape. I paid for it accordingly. Realistically, it'll be stripped down rather than rebuilt. Unfortunately, the Fiero is not an '87 with a 5-speed. It's an '86 with a 4-speed. So here's Mathew with the Fiero, right off the back of the flatdeck. The education begins!

I just want to double-check on this. It's not as easy as you might think! Some late '86 GTs came with 5-speeds. The transmission is listed as an M17 (Muncie 4-speed manual transmission 3.65 ratio) on the Service Parts Identification label, but it could always have been swapped sometime in the past 23 years. The part of the console where the shift pattern is located is missing. The shifter itself is so stiff and out of adjustment that even though I can't find "5th" gear, it might be there (somewhere). Can anyone tell from this picture whether or not this is a 4 or a 5 speed?

No sir! (...unfortunately) Turns out it's a 4-speed. Kind of weird this '86 4-speed was being advertised as an '87 5-speed.

The guy was probably filling a line of B.S. becuase he knows 87GTs are worth about 50% more than an 86GTs. 4spd Munce "and" 5spd Isuzu, cables do run parallel, however the Getrag 5spd (used in the V6 cars) ones run at 90 degrees from each other. From the pics yes it is a 4spd. The difference between the 4spd and 5spd is that the Isuzu uses a single common bracket to hold both cables the 4spd uses 2 different points. |

Hey, don't worry, 4-Speeds will still embarass modern-day Civics.

Your Damn Right, regardless of what motor trend reported, the real life times of the 4spds have always been quicker than the 5spds, especially the 85 2M6, which had the best motor, the best computer and the lightest all around package. (suspension, body, least standard equipment) |
